Ever since President Trump won the election the left has been spreading the dopey fantasy that America is now living in The Handmaid’s Tale. A world where regiments of red clad women live at the whim of a totalitarian state.
The recent film, a turgid piece of left wing propaganda (based on a clunky novel by the untalented Canadian left wing nut case Margaret Atwood) has been celebrated as a cautionary tale about the evils of Trump and Melania and Pence and Ivanka, and… whatever.
And now we have the spectacle of the leftwing media being super-charmed by an actual brigade of red clad women who move and speak and sing in robotic synch — like a bunch of, um, handmaidens.
I’m speaking of of the rigor mortis smiling North Korean Olympic cheerleaders who have caused the western media to go absolutely gaga.
The left has always had a soft spot for left wing totalitarians. From the murderous Communist Soviet Union, to Mao’s genocidal China, to the island prison of Cuba, the American left, which is to say the American media, has always managed to use these evil states as a club against America and Judeo-Christian values.
Walter Duranty, who served as the Moscow Bureau Chief of The New York Times for fourteen years following the Bolshevik victory, won the 1932 Pulitzer Prize for reporting that there was no famine in the Ukraine.
Somehow, ace reporter Duranty managed not to see the millions who were starving to death.
The New York Times still holds on the Duranty’s bloody Pulitzer.
The masturbatory prose being used to describe Kim Yo-jong, the mass murdering North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s sister, is, quite simply, nuts.
She is a tool of the most repressive regime on earth. North Korea is one giant gulag. Regime-created famine is always rampant. Millions have been imprisoned and murdered by the regime.
That army of red clad cheerleaders so adored by the American press are smiling because if they don’t their families will be arrested, tortured and liquidated. And if they fall out of synch they will be shipped back to to North Korea where they will be tortured and killed.
The American press got all excited when First Sister seemed to give Vice President Pence the evil eye. Hey, anything with which to club the Trump administration. Even the privileged sister of a mass murderer who rules over a slave state.
The media then went on to bitterly criticize Mike Pence when he refused to stand for the North Korean national anthem.
You see how it works: when millionaire American football players refuse to stand for the American national anthem, that’s just great. That’s, um, patriotic. But when Mike Pence refuses to honor a genocidal regime, well that’s an international horror.
Vice President Pence was thinking and acting morally. He was right not to stand for the North Korean anthem. And he was right to meet with North Korean defectors. America should be proud of Vice President Pence. Instead, the liberal media treat this good man with scorn.
And the media wonder why nobody trusts them, why so many holds them in contempt.
And it’s not, as they charge, because President Trump has sullied their good name.
It’s because they are corrupt and stupid and immoral.
