The Arab Heart of Darkness

In yesterday's Wall street Journal the great Arab scholar Fouad Ajami dissects the thundering silence in the Arab world as one act of terror after another takes place in Iraq. The lack of values in the Arab world is stunning. But I, a Jew didn't say it, read on and weep for civilization and the "pitiliness in the Arab world."

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

"The remarkable thing about the terror in Iraq is the silence with which it is greeted in other Arab lands."

I'd say that the other remarkable thing about the terror in Iraq is the silence and ignorance in which it is greeted by most dimocrats, leftwing liberals, MSM elites and reporters, and our mutual friends in Hollywood.

When their voices are heard its to lend support to the "ideals" of Code Pink(o), ANSWER, UPJ, etc.

They know very little, if anything, about Arabs, their mindset, their history, their culture, their language. Few of these "progressives" and their ilk, have actually travelled through arab lands, let alone speak arabic, read or listen to arabic media, as I have. Ironically, I have found that at times, there is more Anti-American sentiment coming from the American "Left" then from the collective arab world.

The above mentioned members of the "progressive and intellectual left" have no frame of reference with which to understand the events unfolding in Iraq. Yet that doesn't stop them from mouthing off their opinions and thoughts-and worse-doing so as IF their ignorance is irrelevant. They believe America, a country that is newly formed in the timeline of history, is completely responsible for creating arab terrorism. It's as if they believe Zarquawi's vengeance was only born in 2002 when we ousted Saddam, and Osama's was born sometime during the Clinton era...but they aren't quite sure when or why, so they blame "american foreign policy".

They haven't studied Int'l Relations, although I doubt they would have the intellectual capacity to truly understand its complexities, which may explain why they are rather evasive when asked to explain in great depth what it is about "American Foreign Policy" that serves to justify their support of depotism, stalinism, communism, anti-semitism, jihadism, terrorism and fuels their own hatred for America. Oh yes..they DENY that they hate America...but they also deny everything evil about the regimes and "isms" they pretend not to support

And they have real short memories when it comes to how they really felt about the "benevolent" Saddam. The Boston Globe ( the mouthpiece for liberals and democrats) insisted that Pres.Clinton's biggest failure was his inability to understand the threat Saddam posed, his ineffectual policy of containment, and his refusal to remove Saddam through the use of force!

In my humble opinion, the above was his SECOND biggest failure. Perhaps, had he been thinking with the head found between his shoulders and not the one on the tip of his member, might have recognized the importance of accepting Sudan's offer to hand over Bin Laden, thereby preventing his BIGGEST failure - 9/11.

But hey..why let facts get in the way of blaming american foreign policy,Isreal, and Pres Bush.

Perhaps the voice of an arab scholar, such as Fouad Ajami, will drown out the cacaphony of lies and chorus of denial perpetuated by the "progressive" Left, and they will at long last cease to blame the existance of Isreal, and that ever ephemeral "american foreign policy" as the root of all evil. But I suspect pigs will learn to fly first!

Huntress:

Thanks so much for your comments. I'm reading several histories of WWI right now. The Left then was as ignorant and naive and dangeous as it is now. They insisted that Germany did not really mean to swallow Belgium even as Germany vowed to do just that. The beauty of being a leftie is never having to learn anything from history.
