The Liberty Film Festival

On the first night of the film festival, as David Horowitz was delivering opening comments, two tyrants of the left rushed the stage yelling: "You have no right to speak!"

I wasn't there for the opening night was on Shabbos, but I spoke to several people who were, read several blogs and am quite sure that this is quite accurate.

If you don't believe that the American left is basically totalitarian in thought and deed, well, you are delusional.

Moving on.

The film that most moved me and won the Best Feature Film Award was Obsession, directed by Wayne Koppins. Almost all the footage is culled from Arab television and reveals the pathological hatred for Israel, Judaism and America that is at the heart of the Arab world. Most fascinating is a brief digression to Nazi Germany where we learn that there was an all Muslim SS troop.

Most stomuch churning were excerpts from a mini-series, Al Shatat, that featured a modern day blood libel. Yup, a real live blood libel. It shows Jews in peyes slitting an innocent child's throat in order to bake matzah for Passover.

"How many Arabs saw this disgusting mini-series? I asked Wayne when he came over to my house a few days later.

"Oh, a couple hundred million," he answered, wearily. "It played during the holy month of Ramadan, so it had extra religious authority."

Wayne was in the midst of making a deal with a distributor and when this film is released it should not be missed. It's a powerhouse of a movie about radical Islam and its threat to civilization.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.
That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

The extent of brainwashing that occurs in the Muslim world is depressing and scary.

I recall seeing a documentary on HBO titled 'Death in Gaza' that purported to show a "balanced" view of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. What was interesting to me was that while the filmmakers tried to present their Palestinian subjects in a sympathetic light, their true colors came through repeatedly. Their was one chilling scene of children in a classroom being told that all of Israel was in fact really 'Palestine,' and that one day all the Jews would be driven out.

I hope the documentary you write of gets wide distribution.

To present the Israeli/Arab conflict in a "balanced manner" is a crime. It would be like presenting the Nazi/Jewish conflict in a "balanced manner." The Arabs wish to eradicate Israel from the map. They say it every day in their media. Israel wishes for peace and makes stupid consessions time after time. These consessions only serve to strengthen the hand of the terrorists.

Wow. I just read thru the synopsis of the movie as well as the biographies of the people involved. I'm sure this will be a very powerful movie.

I'd heard about the all Muslim SS troop before. It has felt like Nazi v.2 since the PA/PLO began their campaign to destroy Israel. The scary thing is, Europe has been feeling like that too to a lesser degree. These are nerve-wracking times.

It it's any comfort, there are plenty of non-Jews like myself who despise these forms of anti-Semitism.

Thanks for your comment and yes, it is a huge comfort. You should know that the film points out that the Jihadists call Christians "Crusaders" and hate them almost as much as they hate Jews. American Jews and Christans are in this together. And moderate Muslims--wherever they are.
