Hollywood Republican Redux
Now that we're at the end of the year, and because Seraphic Secret is not such a secret anymore, here is my article, Help, I'm a Hollywood Republican, which was originally published by The Jewish Press.
Happy New Year.
Happy Chanukah.
A meaningful and lovely Shabbos to all.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
And here I thought it was only the networks that ran re runs. ;)
Happy Hanukkah...
Shabbat Shalom...

I'm just as lazy as the Networks.

I enjoyed reading the article, though it's depressing to hear that things are really that bad in Hollywood. Have you met any other traditionally religious people in your work? I'm not asking you to "out" anyone, but I'm curious.
Jimmy Stewart not only joined the Air Force, he flew numerous dangerous missions over Germany, and was about to be promoted to brigadier general when the war ended.
I have Capra's Why We Fight series on VHS. My wife asked me once why I kept a collection of propaganda films, which seems like a fair enough question. I'm not sure what the answer is, except that the volumes on the early Nazi conquests and the Fall of France are surprisingly good history. The volume on Russia is frankly embarrassing. Curiously, I'v heard that Capra had a tough time with this one, in part because the socialists working for him complained that it didn't describe Russian communism in glowing enough terms.

There are several orthodox Jews who are screenwriters. One of my best friends is Catholic. There are several Evangelicals who I am close with. We're all pretty in-the-closet religiously and politically. Though my article outed me and there are people who I have known for over 20 years who will not speak to me ever again. They are, surprise, Liberals.
