Orthodox Mystery

My friend Rochelle Krich's latest Molly Blume novel, Now You See Me, has just gone into its seond printing. It's a fine book and if you're looking for a perfect Chanukah or Christmas gift well, your search has ended.

Publisher John Wiley has sent me Alan Dershowitz's latest book, The Case For Peace, asking me to review it on Seraphic Secret. I will read the book this Shabbos and post my thoughts sometime next week.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Robert,

I have to second the recommendation you made in regards to Rochelle's books. The stories hook you right in.....and as one who use to call the Pico-Robertson area home I enjoy how Rochelle weaves in bits of the area that make me recall lots of fond memories.

Plus I am waiting to hear how you see Dershowitz's latest book. His politics drive me batty....but, his defence of Israel seems to be right on.

Lance:

Rochelle is a fine writer and I'm proud to call her a friend.

Like you, I am not fond of Dershowitz's liberal politics but I applaud his defence of Israel. Yet I wonder if he realizes that it is his party that has turned its back on Israel, not just the radicals of the left.

You sure you want to read Dershowitz's book on the Sabbath? Sounds like work, to me!

Dear Janjan:

Actually, I'm already in the middle of the book and will finish by Shabbos. And I'm not getting paid so it's not really work. Just a hobby. Thanks so much.
