Disaster
"There is a good reason that Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah has accepted UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which sets the terms for a cease-fire between his jihad army and the State of Israel.
"The resolution represents a near-total victory for Hizbullah and its state sponsors Iran and Syria, and an unprecedented defeat for Israel and its ally the United States. This fact is evident both in the text of the resolution and in the very fact that the US decided to sponsor a cease-fire resolution before Israel had dismantled or seriously degraded Hizbullah's military capabilities."

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
As usual Caroline gets it right....
Also, it is very interesting to see reports of the growing rift within the government.....
Plus, it seems that opinion across the board is pushing for a change in government.
Even the lefties at Haaretz understand the situation.
Now FOX, and others are reporting that the Lebanese cabinet has postponed.....indefinitely...their scheduled cabinet meeting to implement the disarmament of Hezbollah.
This 'conflict' isnt over by a long shot....but with Olmert, Zippy, and Commie running the show...Israel will still be fighting with one arm tied behind its back.

Sorry, I don't read Glick.
And, the Lebanese cabinet cancelled a meeting to sign the UN's toilet paper.
Well, magicians use tricks, too. And, people pay good money to be fooled. Unaware of the tricks. And, the wires.
If Israel had run in with massive troops on the ground, the killing field would have been rich with IDF bodies. The hezbollah has the latest russian technology. SO part of taking all this long has been to give the hezbollah time to rot. On it's own.
By the way, the Shi'a in Lebanon must have known what was up, because they fled to Syria. While the roads were open. And, Syria now has, among its million refugees, 400,000 Lebanese Shi'a. And, a whole load of palestinians.
What's the GRAND STRATEGY? You'll see. The best wars are fought with as little actual fighting as possible. WHile you try to DEGRADE the other side.
People keep looking for scores? What is this? A clocked ball game? You want to leave the stands and run to the parking lot?
Or so many were just hoping Olmert would fail, and Bibi "would return." (Bibi can always come back from the bathroom. But when new elections show up, I expect Silvan Shalom to stick a shiv in his back. And, I expect the Likud will always do worse than Labor.) Think about it. That's all we can do, anyway.

Carol said...'Sorry, I don't read Glick.'
Carol....apparently you dont read, either.
Some of the best criticism against Olmert, who you seem infatuated with, comes from the left.
BTW...the only smoke and mirrors Olmert is using are the ones fooling the world that he is a competant leader....meanwhile...he is getting young Israeli men and women killed for a policy that is leading nowhere.

another good reason for nassralah's acceptance - he can take all the credit for being peace loving, take some time to recoup and reload while the other arab terrorists keep israel busy and bleeding, then start shooting again just as soon as he's ready.
why would he be any less likely to attack now then he was before? if anything, he knows he can do what he wants and israel will make apologies and the world will offer bandaids.

What can I say but "I don't get it." I can't remember a time when Israel was so strongly supported by Jews and non-Jews alike in this country and of course, in Israel. And NOW, with all of that popular support Israel backs down? Maybe we should start protesting the war and the government will change its mind. I don't see how Bolton, Rice and the Israeli government could agree to this, (and engineer it too). I just hope they know something we don't, but I doubt it. So much for popular support emboldening the righteous side in war.
