Back to the Past

A wonderful site to explore: When These Streets Heard Yiddish.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Thanks for sharing this link -- the kind that my "Yiddishe hertz" loves!
FYI, my father grew up in the next shtetl to where IB Singer spent his childhood (Bilgoraj); I'd like to think that there was something in the water that helped make for his creativity!

Pearl, hmm... quite a fact.

Outstanding site, tastefully, lovingly arranged. Under Lives -> Occupations -> [image] -> Clothing there's a picture of a Shuster (shoemaker).

Pearl:

I'm convinced that creativity is a mysterious gift. You never know when it's going to appear.

Jeremiah:

I'll take a look at the shoemaker. Thanks.
