The Democratic Party and Jews
"The Democratic Party has been a congenial political home for many American Jews since the era of FDR. The party welcomed them into its ranks (along with many blacks and urban dwellers) and its programs comported well with many values Jews cherish. The Party was also seen as one that had offered help to the doomed Jews of Europe, opposed prejudice, and supported the fledgling state of Israel from enemies that boasted of its plans to destroy the state.
"Conversely, the Republican Party was perceived to be a WASP enclave, isolationist in its outlook, and weak on support for Israel (though George C. Marshall under the Truman Administration advocated abandoning Israel to the tender mercies of its Arab neighbors).
"However, these views are now anachronistic and need to be revisited."

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
I have wondered for over 2/3rds of my life why Jews vote en-block as they do for liberals. I have recently completed a cursory history of both parties since about 1825 and still cannot see why. I have also wondered why that applies to so many Jewish academics, journalists, artists and professors, educated, thinking but who have been so wrong. I truly hate to say it, but the American Jews are also responsible for the very things we must fight today. They supported everything Left, blindly, it seems to me and gave the Left carte blanche.
I have always believed that the reason the "world" has hated the Jews is because the Jews brought the world the "one" god faith. When you take away the power and money of religions with many Gods, they will fight, kill, hate and leave that as a legacy.
Funny, though, that Jesus of Nazarth (whether you believe in him or not is immaterial), took exception to the money changers in the Temple. Money and politics with religion thrown in, and we wonder why they not only hate the Jews but America.
There is nothing like religion beliefs to muck everything up.

Sue:
A majority of religious Jews have slowly abandoned the Democratic party in the past 10 years. Now it's turning into an avalanche. The less religious Jews, Conserrvative and Reform (not all, but a majority) still vote for the Democrats because they use politics as a substitute religion. They are loathe to abandon a party they have been conditioned to believe is for the underdog. Nevermind that this party is lousy for blacks and most all minorities, lousy for the poor, infected with anti-Jewish hatred, and increasingly terrible for Israel -- they care more about supposed global warming than, well, anything else.
