Project Valour

From Seraphic Friend John at the fine military blog Op For comes this story about Project Valour:

Project Valour - IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, provides voice-controlled laptop computers to wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand and arm injuries or amputations at home or in military hospitals. Operating laptops by speaking into a microphone, our wounded heroes are able to send and receive messages from friends and loved ones, surf the 'Net, and communicate with buddies still in the field without having to press a key or move a mouse. The experience of CPT Charles "Chuck" Ziegenfuss, a partner in the project who suffered severe hand wounds while serving in Iraq, illustrates how important this voice-controlled software can be to a wounded service member's recovery.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

I saw a news clip about the wounded and the medical advances in the current Iraq war, compared to Vietnam. I think it was a 60 minute segment, but don't remember.

It was a mix of harrowing tales, blood and gore, death and survival..but one young man stood out. He had almost died...had >20 pints of blood transfused, lost part of his tongue, lost a leg, was facially disfigured...but when the interviewer asked him, while he was in his daily rehab routine at the hospital, how he was doing...he said, sincerely, "fantastic! I make the best of it and don't worry about it."

No whining, no complaining..he had done his duty, almost paid the ultimate price, will bear the scars the rest of his life..

And I can't help but think of the gutless wonders who want us to pull out, to make SURE we've wasted this man's suffering and the others' lives.

I know there are disillusioned veterans of this war...there always are. But many have such pride in what they have tried to do, and yet, the Left will do nothing but try to shame them, and any garbage about "we support the troops, just not Bush and policies" is disingenuous at best.

Thanks for letting us know about the above Robert.
