Sergeant in Afghanistan: "Let's Get it Done"
Things that I am tired of in this war:
I am tired of Democrats saying they are patriotic and then insulting my commander in chief and the way he goes about his job.
I am tired of Democrats who tell me they support me, the soldier on the ground, and then tell me the best plan to win this war is with a “phased redeployment” (liberal-speak for retreat) out of the combat zone to someplace like Okinawa.
I am tired of the Democrats whining for months on T.V., in the New York Times, and in the House and Senate that we need more troops to win the war in Iraq, and then when my Commander in Chief plans to do just that, they say that is the wrong plan, it won’t work, and we need a “new direction.”.
I am tired of every Battalion Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major I see over here being more concerned about whether or not I am wearing my uniform in the “spot on,” most garrison-like manner; instead of asking me whether or not I am getting the equipment I need to win the fight, the support I need from my chain of command, or if the chow tastes good.
I am tired of junior and senior officers continually doubting the technical expertise of junior enlisted soldiers who are trained far better to do the jobs they are trained for than these officers believe...
I am tired of senior officers and commanders who fight this war with more of an eye on the media than on the enemy, who desperately needs killing.
I am tired of the decisions of Sergeants and Privates made in the heat of battle being scrutinized by lawyers who were not there and will never really know the state of mind of the young soldiers who were there and what is asked of them in order to survive.
I am tired of CNN claiming that they are showing “news,” with videotape sent to them by terrorists, of my comrades being shot at by snipers, but refusing to show what happens when we build a school, pave a road, hand out food and water to children, or open a water treatment plant.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
I am tired of the Democrats period. They are reprehensible. We should also, to be fair, now add the Republicans who are joining the anti-war bandwagon, just to make their bona fides with the voters for the next election. Sickening display of cowardice.

Does that quote bring to mind any presidents who had a wife they cheated on named Hilary? Yet some argue with me he was a wonderful President. Oh Puleeeeeze.
CNN and MSNBC...aren't they owned by or affiliates of al-Jazeera?

Maurice:
The Dems are bent on defeat; it's their default position. And believe me, our enemies know it well. It's the reason Nasrallah showed that shameful film of the last American helicopter fleeing Saigon to cheering thousands in Beirut just a few weeks ago. He knows that the Dems are stuck in Viet Nam. He counts on it.
It is understood by terrorists everywhere that the American public, under constant assault from the liberal defeatist media, will not tolerate a minimal amount of casualties in any conflict.
It is understood that America will betray her allies. For instance, who cares about 15 million Kurds? Certainly not Liberals.
It is understood that the left in America are allies of jihad.
It is understood that if America can be shoved out of Iraq by a handful of (mostly Iranian and Yemeni and Saudi) terrorists, well, Israel will be abandoned and easy pickings.
That some Republicans are going along with this defeatism is sickening. It has everything to do with the next elections--not with National Security. Shame on these men and women.

Robert, I agree with all you wrote, and I feel horrible for our troops having to deal with all the insanity that the writer of the essay notes.
I came across this entry about Vietnam which is very relevant to now. We are repeating the same mistakes as we did then, for similarly bad reasons.
We never hear the Left speak about the millions of deaths and terror that plagued the Vietnamese AFTER we withdrew. Not that they would ever care about minor details like that.

Maurice:
The left have a pat and extremely cynical answer: "It's our fault for gettting involved in Viet Nam in the first place."
It is odd though, the left do seem quite anxious for the US to intercede in Darfur.
Um, tell me--to fight which militia? If they think Iraq is complicated, they have not a clue as to what complex can be: Sudan is a bloody sewer.
