Europe Self-Destructs

Yesterday, Seraphic Secret wrote about Fourth Generation Warfare. In this piece, we pointed out that the morally blind doctrine of multi-culturalism has corrupted liberal ideology to the point where many liberals have become de facto jihadist enablers. The following article by Caroline Glick comes to the same conclusion.

The continent of Europe is committing suicide.
Wednesday's decision by Britain's University and College Union to call for a boycott of Israeli universities and colleges was not only hypocritical. It was suicidal.
It is not simply that the British prefer to boycott Israeli universities than say, Palestinian, Egyptian, Syrian, Iranian, Saudi and Jordanian universities where students are indoctrinated to seek the annihilation of the Jewish people and the subjugation of Christianity through the destruction of Western civilization.
It is not merely that they ignored the poor, brave Iranian students who just three weeks ago were brutally attacked by regime forces as they sought to hold elections for their pro-democracy campus organizations.
By calling for a boycott of Israeli universities, Britain's academic establishment is turning its back not only on Israel, but on Britain. When Britain's professoriate rejects Israel's right to exist as a Jewish, democratic nation-state and glorifies Palestinian society which supports global jihad and the destruction of Western civilization, they are rejecting the British state.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Robert,

An organization called Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (www.spme.net) is organizing an anti-boycott task force to fight this egregious action. Academics who support Israel (YES, WE EXIST!) are asked to take specific actions initiating a worldwide protest (see the website for details).

By the way, thank you for your efforts to translate the Hebrew. Some day I am 1) going to learn the language, and 2) visit Israel. My family and I pray for Israel every day.

Also, I saw someone else posted as Carol, so I signed in as DrCarol to distinguish between us. I am the token conservative Republican in my department, a sometimes uncomfortable but never boring position to be in. So, I understand some of what you face in Hollywood.

May you have a blessed and peaceful Shabbos.

Dr. Carol:

Thanks so much for the valuable link. It's comforting to know that there are sane academics.

We will keep translating the Hebrew for non Hebrew speakers. We owe you.

We had a beautiful Shabbos. Thanks so much.

i'm not blog trolling. I've utterly given up the habit. However, I couldn't help picking up this little snippet about that particular meeting of University and College Union (on my way to something completely unconnected with blogging),

"In November, the government warned of what it described as the serious threat posed by radical Muslims and issued guidance to colleges and universities calling on them to monitor student activity.
But Hunt said "lecturers have a pivotal role in building trust. These proposals, if implemented, would make that all but impossible.
"Universities must remain safe spaces for lecturers and students to discuss and debate all sorts of ideas, including those that some people may consider challenging, offensive and even extreme.
"The last thing we need is people too frightened to discuss an issue because they fear some quasi-secret service will turn them in."
The motion expressed outrage at the "continuing escalation demonisation of Muslim and other minority communities", adding this threatened to impinge on education.

And in the same breath call for a boycott of Israeli universities! It's hard to take them seriously. Despite all their long words my first instinct is maternal. I see children playing with fire and want to smack their legs before they burn themselves.

My source was American, http://www.deccanherald.com/Content/Jun12007/foreign200706015006.asp?section=updatenews

I don't know if that resolution recieved much coverage over here. I don't keep up anymore.

Jayne:

Good to hear from you again. It's been far too long.

We are aware of this latest bit of PC suicidal madness. Your maternal instincts, we assure you, are wasted and entirely inappropriate. These people deserve only contempt and scorn for their mind-set will get our children killed.
