Secret Egyptian Pact with Hamas

Egypt has quietly made a deal with Hamas. In return for looking the other way as Hamas smuggles cash and weapons into Gaza, Hamas will not allow Islamic terrorists to operate, from Gaza, against Egypt. Fatah had not been able to prevent this over the past few years. Israel is after Egypt to help stop the smuggling, because Hamas is trying to bring in larger rockets for a major attack on Israel. This would bring Israeli troops back into Gaza, and ultimately destroy Hamas. The anti-Egyptian Islamic terrorists would again be free to operate from Gaza. But Egypt wants some relief now, and is less concerned what happens in the long term. Like most Arabs, Egyptians believe that, in the long run, the Israelis will be driven from the region. In the meantime, the Egyptians try to remain on good terms with everyone, including Israel and the United States.

Original article from Strategy Page.

Egypt, let us keep in mind, is considered by Israel and America, a "moderate" Arab state. Seraphic Secret defines moderate thusly: moderate Arabs yearn and work for the annihilation of the Jewish state even as they bleed American tax payers, and tell gullible Israeli leftists what they want to hear. Non-moderate Arabs, i.e. Jihadists, wage terror campaigns, and call for immediate genocide — though western apologists find no reason to believe this rhetoric, claiming that the Muslim/Arabs are simply playing to their radical base.

In the ever reliable groves of academia, these fashionable deconstructionists, AKA Marxists, inform us that, say, the Iranians have never really called for the destruction of the Jewish state, no they have merely demanded a World Without Zionism.

Oh.

Let us remind these willfully concrete academics of the Wannsee Conference of Tuesday 20 January 1942, where 15 Germans, ten of whom had university degrees, gathered to decide the fate of European Jewry.

Of course the words 'kill', 'murder' or 'gas' appear nowhere in the minutes, only their euphamisms: 'evacuating the Jews to the east,' 'dealt with appropriately', 'eliminate by natural causes', 'transportation and resettlement eastward', and so on. Yet anyone stupid, perversely literally minded or possibly pro-fascist enough to argue that the meeting was indeed only about what was recorded on paper — evacuation and resettlement — has much explaining to do.

Seraphic Secret has, in the past made this real-world equation:

Hamas is Fatah
Fatah is Hamas.

Lets us add:

Egypt is Hamas
Hamas is Egypt.

Israel and America's foreign policy must be conducted with this devil's arithmetic in mind.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

according to this article, today's battle between the neoconservatives and radical left-wingers is the natural evolution of the old left-wing civil war between Trotskyists and Stalinists.

I was a Democrat until I matured intellectually, switched to the GOP, and voted for Ronald Reagan.

Robert,

Now if we can get the Jewish community to wake up and realize their true allies are in the Republican party....instead of the defeatist Democrats....then that will be intellectual maturity.

We try, oh how we try, but far to many naive American Jews are still voting for FDR, or are stuck in a hippie-dippie time-machine protesting the war in Viet Nam. “Good times, man.”

Two words for you, Mr. Avrech:

Fuzzy math.

The story sounds plausible, and, in reality, is pretty much the deal Pakistan made with Al Qaeda. But in both cases what we have in influence in the lower echolons of the government. There are people in the government who want to support it or are part of the network. It really would be more accurate to say this is the deal that both Hamas and Al Qaeda are offering to theese respective countries.

Egypt is not yet Hamas, because if Egypt were Hamas, Egypt would be ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood. So called U.S allies Qatar and Saudi Arabia are much more Hamas but the Saudis are more careful and clever.
