Useless Good Men

“No great country was ever saved by good men, because good men will not go to the length that may be necessary.”

—Horace Walpole

We suspect that some of our more cynical readers are thinking that perhaps Seraphic Secret is advocating fighting fire with fire; buttressing the notion that one form of evil—lesser perhaps—can defeat the greater Islamic evil crouching at our door.

This is entirely wrong.

This not what Walpole was saying. In fact, he was talking about people who were of strong moral fiber; people who were tough, ruthless, and devoted to victory. That is what was needed in the dark days before World War Two — and that is exactly what is needed now.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

So, a "gentleman's C" won't work for national defense? We should pass the word...

Maj Hilts:

Please, pass the word.
