Public Spotlight on Terrorism
Steve Emerson is, at last, on-line, with his Investigative Project on Terrorism.
This is an excellent resource about world-wide jihad from New York to Jerusalem and it's free. We strongly urge all our Seraphic Friends to bookmark this site. If you want to understand the existential battle being waged against the West by the Muslim radicals, this is the place to go.
Emerson is one of our finest counter-terrorism experts. The fifth columnists in America fear and loathe him—a sure sign that Mr. Emerson is doing his job. He is never quoted in the New York Times, another sign that Emerson is an expert in his field. When Mr. Emerson appears as a guest on TV, Jihadist apologists are, invariably, made to look foolish under his cool and relentless barrage of facts. They end up accusing Mr. Emerson of being anti-Islamic.
What a shock.
On the fine Counterterrorism Blog, Jeffrey Breinholt writes:
Sometimes without us knowing it, legal standards change suddenly. It happened today, when the Investigative Project on Terrorism launched its public (and free!) website. I was fortunate enough to receive an advance demonstration of it last week, and came away stunned. Information that has been questioned, sometimes through accusations about the motives of the messengers, is now available to everyone. Anyone with access to the Internet can now see and hear audio and video recordings of Islamic American leaders making statements that have frequently been denied. The truth can sometimes be inconvenient. I predict that, in some future judicial proceeding, August 29, 2007 will be recognized as the moment when those legally charged with the responsibility of “due diligence” and knowing the details of the Islamic threat to our institutions — journalists, academics, bankers, and government officials — will no longer be able to claim plausible deniability. Steve Emerson and his staff, led by Michael Fechter, have performed an amazing public service.
The website is an absolute boom for those of us involved in public commentary and education about counterterrorism. Now, we can finally get beyond debates over whether someone actually said or wrote something to the more interesting question of the implications. I expect the debates to get sharper, and the analysis more refined, since there will no longer be disagreements over basic facts. Hopefully, this will be on immediate display on the Counterterrorism Blog. I encourage all of our readers to get acquainted with this remarkable new tool.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
Emerson cut his teeth working for the Democratic Senator Frank Church of Idaho, who was a great friend of Israel before his bumbling on homegrown economic affairs and the Reagan sweep in 1980 ended his career. I say "iconoclastic," because even in the 70's when there were more outspoken friends of Israel in the Democratic party, Church stood out in a big way. (So did Scoop Jackson from Washington State... he met the same fate in 1980). Otherwise, Church was exceptionally liberal, although he did oppose gun control very strongly throughout his career.
I think Idaho is a little more proud of Church than Larry Craig at the moment.

One of these days I have to find the American House of Saud and read it.

Steve Emerson is a brave and courageous man, an American hero in my book. He was the first person I heard after 9/11 (besides my husband) who made sense. Then he came to the JCC and enlightened us further. Thanks, Robert, for the plug for his web site. Regards, the poetess

Jake:
The great thing about Emerson is that he's beyond politics. He's just Mr. Anti-Jihad Man. Thus he has to sweep his car for bombs ten times a day, has security details protecting his life, and no one gets into his office without putting on a hood, so they have no idea where he works. Yup, he's that dangerous to our enemies.

Soccer Dad:
I have it on order. Let you know how it is.
Right now I'm reading Stephanie Guttman's, "The Other War: Israelis, Palestinians, and the Struggle for Media Supremacy."
Superb. Highly recommended. Will review very soon.

Poetess:
I'm shattered.
No prose.
What, you don't like me anymore?
Sigh.
I'm just messing with you:)
Glad to bring you a great link. Emerson is a great counter terrorist expert, you're probably a great poet. We need both in the battle against the barbarians at the gate.
Welcome to Seraphic Secret. We look forward to more of your comments.

No prose.
You mean no poetry.
he's that dangerous to our enemies.
No doubt he is, but death threats are no proof of it. The Muzzies kill for cartoons, movies and novels.

Kishke:
Poetry, right. My bad. Thanks for the correction.
Actually, there was a Muslim hit squad from South Africa sent to kill Emerson. This was not just cartoon rioting. Emerson is on official Muslim hit-lists, and has 24/7 protection for himself and for his family.

Vos epes South Africa? Are there a lot of Muslims there?
Posted by: kishke at August 31, 2007 07:25 AM
Kishke:
South Africa is one of the new hot spots for Muslim radical activity. Are you kidding, talk about fertile soil. There are actual Jews in South Africa. How can that be tolerated by the religion of peace?

Emerson, a Jew who gets it
A perspective of a moderate Muslim
At the risk of sounding anti-Semitic, I want to say this: either American Jews are completely clueless about the internal struggle inside Islam or they are so cowardly, that they are even afraid to voice their opinion. Or maybe it's a combination of both.
Every time there is a development that involves radical Islam, be it a Mayor of New York attending an Islamist parade, DOJ's officials attending an Islamist conference, or a protester being sued for having the balls to expose an Islamist-sponsored event at an amusement park, the American Jewish community is as quiet as a church mouse. It's like it is not even there.
The effect of this silence is devastating. Not for the Jewish community, not yet. That time is still to come. The silence affects the American Muslim community. Every time moderate Muslims are ignored and Islamists are legitimized (by either direct support from government representatives or silent support of the ADL), radicals gain ground. In the current PC climate, moderate Muslims have pretty much no choice but to keep their mouths shut.
Luckily for us, not everyone in the Jewish community is like that. There are some Jews that are speaking out. One of them is Steven Emerson, who has been warning the West about the dangers of Islamic fundamentalism since before PanAm 103. Most of his current work is focused on exposing the radicals masquerading as the moderates – those radicals who are embraced by the DOJ and the Pentagon, by the mayor of New York Bloomberg (Rudy would never get into bed with terrorist supporters) and the Treasury Department, by the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security, by the Congress and the White House.
There is a war of ideas within Islam, and moderate Muslims are losing. Most of Muslim clergy and Muslim establishment are paid for by the Wahhabis. Moderate Muslims are being run out of Mosques and community centers, and in many cases are physically threatened. Moderate Muslims have no place in the media or public debate, because the place reserved for Muslims is filled by Islamic radicals, who attempt to make criticizing anything Islamic a taboo. According to the Islamists, a Muslim can do no wrong.
1. When a non-Muslim criticizes Islam or Muslims, he/she is an Islamophobe.
2. When a Muslim criticizes Islam or Muslim, he/she is not a real Muslim, therefore see #1.
This is a tactic used by "moderate" Muslims, the darlings of the government and the media. But how can you call someone who praises bin Laden, or has ties to Hamas, or calls for the elimination of Israel, or wants to replace the Constitution with the Koran a moderate? They are anything but moderates, however nobody except for a few people like Steven Emerson seems to notice that. But even when the Emersons of America appeal to the public, they are often being dismissed as alarmists and racists. Well, they are anything, but. You don't have to be a clairvoyant to predict the future when it comes to expansion of radical Islam and extinction of moderate Muslims. All you need to do is get your heads out of the sand.
Why our government is so forgiving and forgetful when it comes to individuals or organizations with known terrorist ties and anti-American views is beyond me. Why the Jewish leaders are so timid when it comes to the subject of radical Islam is incomprehensible.
I thank God every day for people like Steven Emerson, because they are the last glimmer of hope for moderate Muslims.
K.M.
