« Olmert to Divide Jerusalem | Main | Israel to Adopt Seraphic Secret Security Plan, Maybe »

Olmert Spins like a Persian Centrifuge
Here's how it works:
Olmert secretly negotiates a deal with Arab Holocaust denier and terrorist leader Mahmoud Abbas. Olmert knows that the terms of the deal are foul, disgusting, but look, he's a leftist political hack so he does what comes naturally: he secretly leaks the secret deal through one of his leftie hack ministers—to test out public reaction.
He wants to see how far he can go—old appeaser that he is—before he's forced to swallow the electric Kool-aid.
Well, the trial balloon goes up, and whoa, it is not well received. The balloon actually explodes. Big time. What a stunner, the Jewish people are deeply, mortally attached to the entire City of Jerusalem; have been for several thousand years.
Really Ehud, didn't you get the memo:
If I forget thee O Jerusalem may my right hand forget her cunning. Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not; if I set not Jerusalem above my chiefest joy.
— Psalm 137
So now Olmert AKA Neville Chamberlain is blaming TOG.
The Other Guy.
“It was all Chaim Ramon's plan,” we imagine Olmert saying, “I, as Prime Minister had absolutely nothing to do with negotiating this deal. I was busy, with, um, insider trading.”
Several ministers express outrage at vice premier's letter proposing ceding parts of Jerusalem to Palestinian Authority. Kadima MK warns party could turn into Meretz; Olmert's office says plan does not obligate prime minister.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
What a slimy character Olmert is. For years I've watched Israel's economy struggle under socialist style regulations. I thought that was bad. But this? Disgraceful (also disgusting, despicable, disheartening, dismaying....)

And disappointing. Not to mention disreputable.

Olmert, Livni and their ilk will destroy Israel's deterrent capability, if given enough time. MKs, unfortunately, are too interested in their privileged positions to do the right thing, and topple Kadima right now.

Let's not forget who Olmert learned this tactic, the idea of "floating a trial balloon" from.
None other than Ariel Sharon.
Except then it was Olmert taking the heat.
Now Ramon is playing the "floater" role.
Remember the outcries then:
Give up Kush Qatif?
Sharon?
Only to find out that was exctly what Sharon had in mind.
Let's not fool ourselves.
Unless a no-confidence measure is brought that allows new elections—one can only imagine what Olmert and his lefty pals are cooking up.

Syrian claims Olmert is a wolf in dove's clothing:

If only. More like a dove in dove's clothing.

Robert:
I agree with the Olmert trial balloon theory.
I actually commented on this topic 2 weeks ago when Ramon first made headlines regarding the great Jerusalem giveaway. (Sept.6-A Night in Hollywood).
I expect Ramon to follow-up with am alternative proposal with the next couple of weeks.
The next proposal will be less radical than the first but will definetly have some elements of dividing Jerusalem.
The next proposal will make it easier for Olmert to get approval from the govt.
Eventually Olmert will offer the Pals a quasi-capitol in Jerusalem.
I also expect the Orient house to be reopened within the next 2 months.
