Olmert to Divide Jerusalem
I admit when I'm wrong. I'm enough of a man to step back and take responsibility for my mistakes.
I've libeled Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
I've said that he's not fit to be Prime Minister.
I've said that he's not a strong, decisive leader.
I was wrong.
He's a great leader, a great Prime Minister—for the so-called Palestinian people.
For the Jewish people, he's only suitable to lead some ghetto Judenrat.
This from that fine blog Israel Insider:
The independent Palestinian news agency Maan published a Hebrew document late last week that purports to represent the "principles" apparently agreed on in negotiations between Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. While the offices of both men denied any connection to it, comments by Israeli President Shimon Peres confirm some of the main points. On one of the most controversial points, that Israel has agreed to surrender sovereignty the Old City of Jerusalem, Peres pointedly refused to comment.

The people of Israel must rid themselves of Ehud Olmert, Tzipi Livni and their entire regime of appeasers and fools before Israel is swallowed by a sea of genocidal Jihadists.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
From the linked article: "The second point of the document confirms previous reports that Israel had agreed to give up the equivalent of 100% of the territories acquired in the Six Day War of 1967." (emphasis added)
How could any Jew agree to give up The Kotel? Do they have recall elections in Israel? Or no-confidence votes? What needs to be done to remove Olmert immediately?

And what does this mean: "An exchange of territory will be enabled on a 1:1 basis, to preserve settlement blocs in Israeli hands and to guarantee Palestinian contiguity and economic development."
How can the Palestinians have a contiguous state without jeopardizing Israel's contiguity?

Fern:
Olmert is a leftie before he's a Jew.
Now, what can be done to remove Olmert immediately?
Coup d'etat anyone?

Fern:
The document is a jihadist roadmap for the birth of an Islamic terrorist state and the annihilation of the Jewish state of Israel.
Under these circumstances, Olmert and company must be removed from office. They are a clear and present danger to the Jewish nation.

I really don't understand how the Israelis tolerate him in office. Something's screwy.

Oh, and I see I've been upgraded to Seraphic Chaver!

Kishke,
As one who has been lving in Israel for the past year, before returning to Las Vegas, I can tell you most Israelis don't really tolerate Olmert.
Certainly, the public polls bear this out. However, Olmert did get a bump with the mysterious Syrian incident.
The main problem, as I see it, is that the Israeli public is held hostage due to its adherence to the parliamentry system.
Olmert might be a Judenrat, but he is an expert politician. He knows how to buy off his opponents, the smaller parties that could be crucial in a no- confidence vote.
The Haredi parties, the ones who spend more time condemning Madonna, gladly take the buyouts. They can care less about the state as long as they get the handouts.
So, unless some of the smaller parties band together I'm afraid we are in for some disconcerting times.

"that Israel has agreed to surrender sovereignty the Old City of Jerusalem"
Please, please tell me I"m misreading this.

I think Lance has it right. What Olmert is good at is working the political system. That's the reason why, despite his ineptitude at doing anything actually beneficial for the Israeli people, whenever there's a government shake-up (and, yes, the Parliamentary system is an unstable disaster), he always ends up sitting on the top of the resultant dung heap.

i watched the mabat news show tonight as i ate dinner. unfortunately they reported that olmert's approval ratings have increased since the raid. (although of course they still remain abysmally low.)

Katherine:
I'm afraid your reading comprehension is excellent. OTOH, Olmert's grasp of reality is somewhat tenuous. He believes that by signing peace treaties, he will get, ahem, peace.
The Arabs are having a big laugh as they arm their homicide bombers and prepare to lock up the Kotel.

Bookworm:
Yes, Lance is dead-on. Olmert is a political hack, the Parliamentary system encourages corruption and ineptitiude, but we are in the hands of appeasers who are handing the Jewish nation over to Jew-hating jihadists. This cannot, must not stand.
This is not Olmert's government, it's our government. We have to take it back. Now.

Olmert is a disaster, but that is not offering anything that hasn't been said. The ultimate question is will the people stand by and watch.

Mo'ah:
Of course Operation Orchard, as the raid is codenamed, will give Olmert a slight boost in the ratings. But that's only temporary. They will return to the toilet as soon as the public gets wind of this outrageous betrayal.

To borrow a line from an old movie:
Bibi Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope...

"But that's only temporary."
one of the likudnics interviewed for the segment was upset because he said israelis have short memories; all they remember now is the raid and they have forgotten all his previous blunders.
but i guess their short memory means they will soon forget about the successful raid as well.

Easy to slam Olmert,
a little more challenging, Shimon Peres
What does Peres mean again? Division?
Posted by: John at September 19, 2007 08:50 AM
Why is Peres "more challenging?"

Bibi Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope...
Heh. But if my memory serves me correctly, Netanyahu is willing to give up land when he thinks it's politically advantageous too. And he is a little slow on the retractions. At least, that's what the people in Gush Katif tell me.
