Towards Catastrophe
Common sense should inform a people that when their enemies promise to liquidate them they should take these threats seriously. Common sense also dictates that when these threats are backed up by hundreds of rockets a month, one does not dismiss these rockets as: "crude," "handmade," or "highly inaccurate." Are they waiting for the technology to improve before they feel that Jewish lives are imperiled? Are they waiting for the limbs of children to be strewn over a bloody playground? Does intent no longer count?
History counts.
And history, especially Arab history, bears out this simple calculus: when Arab/Muslims make threats against Jews, they mean what they say and they always follow through on their threats. Those who dismiss such threats as nothing more than rhetoric, flowery language, are themselves nothing more than racists. I respect our enemies. I take them quite seriously. They mean what they say and they say what they mean. Read the Fatah Constitution. It is quite explicit. It calls for a Palestinian State in all of Israel. After you read this, move on to the Hamas Covenant. It's proudly genocidal in its intentions towards the State of Israel; parts are even based on The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, that notorious Jew-hating forgery drummed up by the Tsar's secret police.
It is all well and nice to call for peace talks, but talk is cheap, and talk is often just a fig-leaf for preparing for war. Tyrants count on extended negotiations to buy time in order to weaken the enemy, break down the morale of democracies, and embolden the so-called peace camps. Hitler adored the appeasers in England and France. Hamas and Fatah have no better friends than Peace Now and other such wretched groups of Jewish Kapos.
The Arabs have been at war with Jews and with Israel since time immemorial. Unfortunately, many Jews refuse to face this uncomfortable fact.
Here's another uncomfortable fact: In a battle against fanatics only another strain of fanatics can meet and defeat such an enemy. Witness Spain, Sicily, and certain parts of the Balkans; these were highly religious, national and tribal cultures which succeeded in driving back the sword of Islam. The Catholic reconquest of Spain could only have been achieved by an overriding religious ethos to counteract imperial Islam.
Tragically, this simple truth is too much for some Jews and Americans to bear, hence they prefer national suicide.
Now, let's hear from Michael Freund who is afraid, very afraid:
Is anyone out there awake? I'm beginning to suspect that the recent end-of-summer heat wave has lulled many of us into a peaceful snooze, so much so that we have become virtually oblivious to some rather important and far-reaching developments.
By any standards, the headlines of the past few weeks should have sparked a furious public outcry, accompanied by stormy demonstrations, irate parliamentary debates and massive protests and letter-writing campaigns.
But there has been none of that, nary a peep, as the prime minister of the State of Israel secretly negotiates away much of the country and its strategic assets.
What has happened to our sense of outrage? In the wake of his meeting with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas last week, reports surfaced that Ehud Olmert had discussed wide-ranging concessions such as dividing Jerusalem, uprooting dozens of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria and forgoing Israeli sovereignty on the Temple Mount.

Any comment about a former working partner of yours making a film about the Mahmudiya incident? I'm especially referring to the filmmaker's statement that “The movie is an attempt to bring the reality of what is happening in Iraq to the American people". Personally, I can't imagine that the criminal acts of a few of our Marines represents the totality of what's going on in Iraq. With so many people in Hollywood spouting such destructive self righteous opinions, you must be burning a hole in your gut having to hold your tongue.
How about making a movie showing our Marines this way?

Michael Freund's comments are very true....
While living in Israel I can't recall much outrage over Olmert and company and their dangerous and reckless policies.
I have heard more complaints....especially from American olim.... about "greedy Americans"; and more praise for Michael Moore... than I have heard about Olmert and his plans for Israel.
As someone posted yesterday....I think it was Ralphie...just like the powers that be will not place a stop sign at a dangerous corner until some poor schmoe gets creamed....I'm afraid the Israeli public won't wake up until the next disaster.
I hope it really doesn't come to this.....

Hollywood's war against America, against our troops is disgraceful. Hollywood's enabling of jihadists is just plain dangerous.
I take comfort in knowing that these films will fail dismally at the box office.
And yet, I have always been grateful to those who gave me my start in the film business. I owe them a great deal.
The movies you and I would like to make are pipe-dreams in today's Hollywood. Believe me, I have tried. Again and again.

"In a battle against fanatics only another strain of fanatics can meet and defeat such an enemy"...I'm not sure this is always true....in WWII, for example, the U.S. and Britain defeated the fanatical regimes in Germany and Japan without ourselves becoming fanatics. (We did have a lot of help from the Soviet Union, under a regime that had some fanatical characteristics)
While victory may not require fanaticism, it *does* require resolution and determination, and is not compatible with an ethos of nuance-seeking and the worship of shades of gray.

I firmly believe that in the rush to grab all power here in America and the Western countries, the Left and its minions, tinfoil hatted leftist loons, will not, can not hear or see anything but their own desires. I wish that I could tweak my nose and instantly remove every single American and return them to us here and then watch what happens in the rest of the world. Maybe then, the insanity of the Left, the world would be able to begin to see and perhaps understand the danger we are faced with. Jews in particular, as I have said to Robert, should know better. But, they don't. In fact, it appears that they are blind, deaf and dumb because they feel guilty about living? Because of the Holocaust? I simply don't know, but they and we will rue the day!!

We declared total war against Germany and Japan demanded unconditional surrender. We bombed their civilian populations into rubble, even called them "terror bombings." We dropped two Atomic bombs on Japan. Some might calls this shades of gray. I don't. I call this total war. A form of fanatical war——which is all good and necessary to preserve our western values.
There was only one true Nazi state. There are approximately 52 Muslim states and one billion Muslims. The math and ideology are formidable compared to Nazism and Communism. With all due respect, Secular Humanism cannot hope to defeat such a foe.

I share your frustration. My fellow Jews live in denial. As they did in Europe as the Nazis explained exactly what they were going to do to the Jews, how they were going to it, and when they were going to do it.
