Jew-Hatred in England, Gaza Confessions, and Good News from Iraq
Melanie Phillips reports on the alarming rise of Israel/Jew-hatred in England. This should remind all decent people that Jews are the canary in the coal mine of civilization.

Seraphic Friend Mere Rhetoric shows us in no uncertain terms that more aid to the Palestinians means more dead Jews.
Meanwhile, in Israel, this from a man who supported expelling Jews from Gaza:
The disengagement from Gaza "was a mistake" National Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer told Non-Stop Radio (Radio Lelo Hafsaka) on Thursday.
"I admit and confess," Ben Eliezer said, "I was with those who strongly supported [former prime minister] Ariel Sharon, and today I say with my head held high: We erred, we made a very big mistake."

Over in Iraq, more good news you will not read about in the mainstream media, but the great Michael Yon has an important dispatch about an important photograph.
Michael writes:
A Muslim man had invited the American soldiers from “Chosen” Company 2-12 Infantry to the church, where I videotaped as Muslims and Christians worked and rejoiced at the reopening of St John’s, an occasion all viewed as a sign of hope.
The Iraqis asked me to convey a message of thanks to the American people. "Thank you, thank you," the people were saying. One man said, "Thank you for peace." Another man, a Muslim, said "All the people, all the people in Iraq, Muslim and Christian, is brother." The men and women were holding bells, and for the first time in memory freedom rang over the ravaged land between two rivers.
Karen and I are flying east to visit family. We'll try and blog while we're away, but postings might get a bit spotty. We wish all our friends a lovely and meaningful Shabbat.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
Why does Ben-Eliezer say it "with his head held high?" He should be hanging his head in shame. It's not as though no one predicted then that this would happen.

Kishke:
Yes, I saw that "held head high" business and was equally perplexed.
What can I say: "Am k'shay oref," or maybe he's wearing a neck brace.

He probably means he's not ashamed to admit he was wrong, not that he's not ashamed of having been wrong. Or the translation went awry somewhere.
