Slow Motion Suicide, Part II

The one and only Caroline Glick wonders how Ehud Olmert continues to defy gravity. Ms. Glick also reveals some startling and unsavory facts about the leftist media elite in Israel—not so different from their bretheren in America who would yawn in boredom if Israel were to, G-d forbid, go up in flames. Caroline Glick, who should be the Jewish State's Prime Minister, also warns about Olmert's use, well, misuse of police powers to crack down on his political opposition and stifle dissent. Pay close attention to Israel's Tom Paine.

Monday Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni opened negotiations with her Palestinian counterpart Ahmed Qurei regarding the partition of Jerusalem; the destruction of hundreds of Israeli communities in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem; the expulsion of between a hundred thousand and half a million Israelis from their homes; the borders of Israel; and the right of immigration of millions of foreign, hostile Arabs to Israel.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

It is a real curious thing I encountered while I lived in Israel last year.

People would gripe and complain, yet would do nothing.

When I would challenge them about the status quo and other challenges that cripple Israel, like the numerous labor strikes, I would get comments that I was a spoiled American.

Yet, as Caroline Glick writes, the silence is deafening.

Unless the man on the street Israeli, both new olim and sabra's, rise up, we will wake up to headlines that mass withdrawals from Judea and Samaria are occuring, and that Jerusalem will be the new capital of Palestine.

Lance:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but plenty of Jews protested the ethnic cleansing of Jews from Gaza, and then the State went ahead anyway, and the world was treated to the horrendous spectacle of Jews expelling Jews from their homes and rendering yet more land Judenrein and home to jihadist Jew-haters who now rain missiles on Israel every hour of every day.

Quite an accomplishment for the, ahem, progressives. A new term for what was once labeled the Judenrat.

Perhaps the good citizens of Israel people have been beaten into submission by the fascist left who suffer pathologically from Stockholm syndrome.

I'm only, y'know, conjecturing.

Robert,

Very good example.

There is a coffee table sized picture book on the Gaza withdrawal I had a chance to view....I actually owned it, but, someone else has it now...

However, the pictures and the accounts are very moving and a stark reminder as to the tradgedy that Israel is doing to itself.

You may be correct that the public has been beaten into submission. When their cries fall on deaf ears and the politicians are too arrogant to do anything...eventually the public will give up.

Why bother if you are going to be beaten and thrown in jail.....especially if you need to support a family.

One last point....this terrible slide, ironically, was begun by a right-wing PM, Ariel Sharon. Who can forget when he would send his then flunky, Ehud Olment, to float trail balloons.
Olmert would take the flak....while Sharon plotted away.

Now the flunky is in charge....and, from the tactics he is quick to employ, is not apt to leave power of his own accord.

And, it doesnt seem there is anyone of any political courage, within his ranks, that have the cajones to stop the maddness.
