Stop-Loss: Loser

Ryan Phillipe in Stop-Loss.
Hollywood's latest anti-Iraq war film has flopped badly at the box office. What a shock. Maybe Obama's, ahem, former Pastor, Jeremiah Wright, will give a sermon blaming it on, y'know, “Israel, that dirty word.” Oh wait, Hollywood is controlled by Jooz.
So confusing.
I’ve asked around and the scuttle is that Stop-Loss cost $30 to$40 million to produce. With its advertising budget you can easily add another $10-$15 million.
Gee, all that dishonest advertising on Fox News [translation for oh, so witty liberals: Faux Noise] and you still got yourself a stinker-roo.
Hey, I have an idea… Because that’s like twelve pro-defeat, anti-American box-office humiliations in a row, why don’t you stop making them…?

And here's Dirty Harry's review of Stop-Loss. Which sounds like a public service announcement designed to save your hard-earned dollars.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
Robert, they continue to churn out this Hate-all-things-American garbage. I'm told although they lose money here they recoup many times over in foreign markets where these tales only reinforce the "evil American" rants taking place. ugh.

Suz:
It's a myth that these films make money in the foreign markets. Even overseas there is no appetite for this dreck. People want to be entertained when they go to the movies, not lectured by a bunch of smug overpaid limousine liberals. So, even in France these films play to empty houses. And American films have zero distribution in the Muslim world. So the studios just bleed red ink on these films.

Wow that is good to know Robert. I was hoping you would have some inside stuff on that! It makes you wonder about the insanity of those who attack from within....attack a country which has allowed their success, prosperity, creativity. I suppose I'm much too pedestrian to understand such a response to the U.S.

Something's gotta give here, politics or no politics. At some point, the corporate chiefs will surely clean house in some way.
These anti-war movies, (that even the anti-war public doesn't want to see... geez, don't these people know any history? It was 1978 before Hollywood tackled Vietnam with "The Deer Hunter" and "Coming Home," and that was 5 years AFTER most U.S. troops left Vietnam), are just one problem. My other gripe is this "independent movie" misnomer they give to any movie that isn't an action flick or a kiddie movie. They're intentionally taking a lot of their movies and thinking small; giving the public no reason NOT to wait until it's released in DVD.
Give me David Lean, John Huston, etc. the directors who THOUGHT BIG and gave us movies that were BIGGER THAN LIFE.

They'll export it to Western Europe and break even that way. Maybe they'll strike it big and the Germans will decide to use it as an instructional video the way they did Michael Moore's stuff.

Ah, yes, these "kids" we send off to fight "rich men's wars for oil".... who are -- or rather, who must be vigilantly recalled to public attention as -- grown men and women who have made a significant life (and historical) choice.
And nary a complaint about the real kids sent to kill American "kids": young teens of Hitler Youth sent to the crumbling fronts in '45, Iranian preteens herded by waves at Iraqi poison gas in the 80s, Pali tots paraded in (ahem) full metal jackets in the 90s and now....

I so love that this movie is a flop, a stinker, a lead balloon...
