First Time in Shul

Ariel Avrech ZT'L studying Torah during a visit to
Camp Morasha, Summer 1998.
Our dear friend and blogmother Jackie—check out Qik, Jackie is head of marketing for this amazing service—attended the Ariel Avrech ZT'L Memorial Lecture yesterday. It was her very first time in shul and here's her lovely and generous report.
Bonus footage: A picture of yours truly with Jackie.
Oh, almost forgot, here's Haveil Havalim #169, Part I presented by the cleverly titled, Writes Like She Talks.
Here's Part II.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
As I commented there, Jackie's post is beautiful. (You're looking sharp in the pic.)

Kishke:
Jackie's a very special lady.
As for looking sharp, well the Seraphic Secret is that it's all in the American-Israeli flag pin I wear.

I agree, a beautiful post and it's nice to see a picture of you for once!
(I haven't commented in a long time- I'm more of a lurker, actually, but I had to put my two cents in, because I was so moved by the post.)

That was a wonderful post, you look great, and I wish I could have attended. I am looking forward to the video, though.

Thank you for the kind words about my blog's title. Funny how we can use things that were intended as criticisms in a way that defines us in a positive light (as in, my teachers were always downgrading my writing because I write like I talk).
I also want to say how much I look forward to blogrolling and really spending more time with the amazing blogs, and people - I've discovered by hosting HH. I've neglected getting vested in it and I really need to turn toward it.
Although I'm not familiar with the details of your family's loss and heartache, I thank you for using a blog as a form of expression about what you are thinking, and I would guess what you hope others might think about.

Jill:
I love your bog's title because some of the best writing in the blogosphere comes from people who do write like they talk, but with better punctuation.
Thanks so much for your words of nechama, they help more than you could ever imagine.
Keep up the fine work on your blog and let's stay in touch.

Thank you for the reports. W/o video it's still weighty. There's plenty good to be had, even if not returning this year was a sin of omission.
best,
