Republican Yarmulkes: Sign of the Times
Who says our yarmulkes have to be yeshivish black velvet or the more modern knit jobs known as kepah s'ruga.
The new, must-have fashion items are cooly Conservative, colorful discsthat proudly stake out their side of the aisle with all the force of a shofar on steroids.
Here are four new designs that find inspiration in proud political slogans mixed with the joy of English and Yiddish.
These yarmulkes are also a sign of the times.
The days of Jews as default, lever-pulling, lobotomized Democrats are o-ver. Gone. Finished. End of the road.
Order your favorite yarmulkes at Vanity Kippah.
Hat Tip: Dr. Peter Stevenson
And from Jeff Jacoby via Wolf Howling, a few words of truth—in short supply these days—regarding the current financial crisis, Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank , and the liberal insistence on affirmative action housing. It all goes back to the most wretched president of these United States, Jimmy "Jihad" Carter.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
I am surprised that you didn't include the Obamaka. ;)

Jack:
I don't believe that a man who spent 20 years in a Israel-hating, Jew-hating, America-hating church deserves to have his name on a yarmulke.
Such yarmulkes make a mockery of Judaism and minimize Jew-hatred.

"The days of Jews as default, lever-pulling, lobotomized Democrats are o-ver. Gone. Finished. End of the road."
Yes, maybe, for some. But the damage is done. The internal rot in our system from 2 generations of touchy-feely, do-gooder, multiculturally and politically correct politics and policies that negated Westernand judeochristian achievements and values have gutted this nation, and the entire West. The Barbarians are through the gate and taking over demographically and culturally.
Day late. Dollar short. Thanks for nothing. We have weakened the good and enabled the bad and destructive for too long.

Foxfier:
My apologies for not providing a proper explanation.
Observant Jewish men wear yarmulkes, or a hat, in order to be constantly reminded that G-d is above and you are not the center of the universe.
Over the years, specific styles of yarmulkes have been associated with various sub-groups within the observant Jewish world.
A black velvet yarmulke indicates a Jew who has been reared in a more Torah-centric household and community. The Yeshivish designation is somewhere between the overwhelming piety of Hasidim and the more open-to- outside-influences of the Modern Orthodox.
The kepah (another name for yarmulke) s'rugah is a "knit" yarmulke, frequently done in multi-colors and often with the name of the wearer in Hebrew or English. This look is identified with the Modern Orthodox. The MO's are also traditional, but chances are that he/she will get a higher education and enter demanding professions that might not be an option for many Yeshivish Jews.
Though, of course, there are plenty of Yeshivish men and women who do get a higher education and enter demanding professions such as medicine and law. There are, obviously exceptions to every rule.
The leather yarmulkes in this article are intended for the MO demographic.
Hope this brief explanation canswers your query. If not, keep asking and we'll do our best to illuminate our small corner of the universe.
And a Shana Tova, Happy New Year to you and yours.

I'm glad you explained, Robert. A common misunderstanding is that there is some standard, like the colors of martial arts belts, or bishops' biretti, and that the color or size indicate the wearer's status. Now that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Halloween yarmulkehs are becoming more common, I think that particular error is laid to rest.

On my trip to Israel in March 2004 for the Ireland V Israel world cup qualification soccer match I bought a yarmulke with the distinctive hexagon soccer ball design on it. I wore it to the match thinking it would be funny but it struck me afterward that this might be offensive or inappropriate for a non Jewish person to wear one (Is it), particularly in such a venue as a soccer stadium, not exactly the most pious of places.

That works nicely! Thank you. My only other education was fiddler on the roof....

Not to be pedantic or anything, but do they all have to be so cutesy? How about a simple, tasteful "Jews for McCain" kippa? Or even "I'm Jewish, and I vote... REPUBLICAN".
(CafePress doesn't do kippas yet... the scoundrels.)

When it come to this present crisis the proximate cause was Clinton and his Sec of Treasury Robert Rubin who was the architect of the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act. The G-S Act was a post depression bill that put a firewall between the bank deposits and the speculators. I remember gasping out loud when I read the news of its repeal. We are reaping what has been sown. Rubin and frmr Fed Chair Volker (under whose admin unemployment reached record highs) are now Obama's advisors. Obama's top contributors are Wall Street Firms and Wall Street Law Firms/Lobbyists.

We bought the McCain one for my spouse's former boss, who is retiring this month. I think he will like it. :-)
