Dear Mr. Obama: Economics 101

Hat Tip: Joshua Pundit

And our articulate friend Wolf Howling continues Eco 101 by explaining that the current financial crisis is a direct result of President Clinton's policies and Democratic big government ideology.

We are in a fiscal crisis today largely because of the sub-prime lending crisis. At the intersection of the crisis is Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Democratic politics. It was Bill Clinton who set this time bomb in motion by forcing lenders into the sub-prime market. It was Clinton who used Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as the center pieces of his strategy to extend home loans to marginal borrowers, largely minorities. And it has been largely Democratic lawmakers who have protected the scheme over Republican and Bush administration efforts to reign it in over the past eight years.

And my good friend Jeremayakova has a conversation about Sarah Palin with a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. Truly illuminating.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Hey! I am marginal borrower. You gotta problem with that?

: )

Hey, I'm a marginal writer, no problemo:-)

Alice, Robert was kind enough to quote my piece above. Having just seen your comment and reread what I wrote, I can see it is very poorly worded. If you click the link to my site, you will see the first authority I quote in the body of the piece discusses the genesis of the Clinton regime push into sub-prime lending. What I was trying to articulate, poorly albeit, was that Clinton's justification was based on a flawed study that concluded minorities and whites with the same essential economic situation and credit history were being treated differently by the mortgage industry. That study was later disproven. To the extent that what I wrote could be read to suggest anything beyond that or anything deragotory, please trust that it was unintended and accept my apologies.

GW: I am a marginal borrower because my credit kind of stinks. My credit kind of stinks because I felt I had a constitutional right to purchase excessive footwear from Nordstroms and take trips to Europe I couldn't afford. It has actually improved because I don't spend like an idiot anymore. Go figure! You don't need to apologize for anything.

We are also marginal borrowers because I stay at home with our son- a grand thing to do. So that I am proud of.

Thanks so much for the extra input and clarification. Your work is always illuminating, never awkward.

I want your autograph.

There were about 6 words in that whole video that i agreed with. But basically its going to be a disagreement between all keynesian economists and all friedman economists. But it's always fun when someone who pretends to know better chooses one of the sides and does a bad job of totally ignoring any valid points that the other side has to make. Basically, the idea that increasing taxes on billionare corporations will cause a doubling in pricing while interesting is totally ludicrous unless some hard numbers are given. an increase in our social security tax for people making over 500 grand will have a negligable impact on the consumer price index--depending what the increase is. If we increase the tax over 300% so that might have an impact--but 1 or 10 percent will not. But basically, it takes a lot of chutzpah to have control of the presidency, the congress and the senate and then blame failures on previous administrations from almost 8 years ago. I welcome the day when the democrats will be in charge of the tax rolls. But im guessing that my opinions wont sway anyone. So really what im saying is--if you are not gonna present both opinions of the experts--well, that means you are being intellectually dishonest

Hey robert

Brad:

You're very welcome. Take your time, it's a lot to absorb.

Please note: I believe that the outstanding issue facing America and the Democratic West is the war against Islamic terror. The American economy goes in cycles, ups and downs.

Economics is not a science, but social philosophy.

America will muddle through these tough times, but if Islamic terror is not met and defeated, well, the economy will be shattered, especially if the terrorists succeed in detonating a dirty nuclear bomb in NY or LA.

I believe that Obama is, at the core, an appeaser. Thus, I see him as a problematic choice for America's Commander in Chief. There is a reason that Hamas, Hizbullah and the PA have all expressed a strong preference for an Obama win. They know that they will be able to eat him for breakfast.

Not looking to convince you to vote for McCain. My main interest is in clarifying divergent positions.

Ketivah U'chatimah Tovah.
