The Fanatics of Islam and their Democrat Enablers
Iran represents a self-proclaimed existential threat to the state of Israel and a regional danger to the Gulf Sunni states. Iran has been murdering Americans and Jews for over thirty years. Armed with a nuclear weapon Iran would tip the balance of power in the Middle East and bring this genocidal state one step closer to achieving her strategic goal: a world without Israel.
Why Fanatics are Fanatics
There are some who believe, with messianic fervor, that high-level diplomatic negotiations along with tough international sanctions, will convince the Islamic Republic of Iran to give up her nuclear ambitions.
This belief represents the voice of enlightenment, the notion that reason is the ultimate arbiter of human behavior.
Unfortunately, when dealing with fanatics, nothing could be further from the truth.
Fanatics reject reason; that's why they are fanatics. The fanatic believes that reason is—follow me here—unreasonable.
The fanatic acts with unrestrained aggression because history—the history of Islam—indicates that religious fanatacism triumphs against the forces of reasoned thought and debate.
Islam, let us not forget, was spread through the merciless application of violence and carefully modulated social repression.
Thus Jihad: a ruthless imperial and expansionist philosophy.
Islam does not recognize national borders, only the community of Islam, therefore the Westphalian Treaty designed to protect the territorial integrity of nation-states is a non-issue for the fanatic mind-set of Islam. That's why the Hamas Covenant states that their objective is the destruction of the “Zionist entity” to be replaced, not by a Palestinian state, but by a greater Islamic community.
The Terror Playbook
Let's glance at some outtakes from the Hamas Covenant, an ideological, tactical and strategic playbook to which the terrorist organization rigidly adheres.
“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.” (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).
This Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS), clarifies its picture, reveals its identity, outlines its stand, explains its aims, speaks about its hopes, and calls for its support, adoption and joining its ranks. Our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious. It needs all sincere efforts. It is a step that inevitably should be followed by other steps. The Movement is but one squadron that should be supported by more and more squadrons from this vast Arab and Islamic world, until the enemy is vanquished and Allah's victory is realised.
The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. Neither a single Arab country nor all Arab countries, neither any king or president, nor all the kings and presidents, neither any organization nor all of them, be they Palestinian or Arab, possess the right to do that. Palestine is an Islamic Waqf land consecrated for Moslem generations until Judgement Day.
There are few differences between Hamas and Iran. And let's not forget that Hizbullah is an Iranian proxie embedded in Lebanon, Gaza, with sleeper cells in Europe, Africa, Canada and America.
Time on Their Side
And though Iran seems to be just another nation-state, albeit a totalitarian state, the Persian ruling class, the clergy, view their current Islamic republic as a stepping stone to the creation of a much larger transnational Islamic community, where Sharia rules and all other nation states cease to exist.
No amount of reasoned debate can shake this mind-set. Carrot and stick diplomacy only rewards the fanatics with even more time in which to weaponize their nuclear arsenal.
And when dealing with terrorists, time is always on their side. In fact, tactically it's a most precious commodity.
Cease-fire, Cease to Exist
That's why the cease-fire Israel accepted from Hamas in Gaza only strengthens the Islamic terrorists for time allows them to import more weapons, build more sophisticated bunkers, train more terrorists, and prepare their massive arsenal of long and short-range missiles for the moment when the cease-fire ends.
In the Art of War Sun Tzu cautions: “Know your enemy.”
Not recognizing Sun Tzu's simple but brilliant dictum, Israel embraces a form of national suicide.
It's a bitter pill for good and well-intentioned people to swallow, the notion that fanatical belief systems animate national destiny. In the West we have been taught that reason and the desire for peace motivates modern man because, presumably, logic and self-interest benefit all mankind.
But the Islamic fanatic sees reason as a weakness to be exploited. Thus, Israel expels 10,000 Jews from their homes in Gaza under the “reasonable” assumption that this gesture will convince the Arabs and the entire world that Israel genuinely desires peace. But creating Judenrein zones—the definition of apartheid—only legitimizes the fanatic Islamic belief that no place on earth should be safe for Jews.
Tragically, the chattering classes in Israel and the West do not understand that the collective fanatics of the Islamic world view the expulsion as further proof that terror works, proof that jihad—a religious cover for unrestrained terror—is highly effective.
The fanatic knows that when reason meets the fanatic, reason collapses into a cocoon of appeasement and surrender. The fanatic can read the mind-set of the “enlightened” Western, but the mind of the Islamic fanatic is incomprehensible to the rational liberal mind. Thus, the liberal West is always at a grave disadvantage.
For the Islamic fanatic, there is no downside to being a fanatic in the war against Israel, the Jewish people, Christians, and the West.
It works.
The Not So Jewish Democrats
Against this backdrop, we should all—Democrats, Republicans and Independents—rally together to voice opposition to the current genocidal Persian regime.
But when Governor Palin—who has more spine than the entire Democratic ticket— was disinvited to yesterday's U.N. rally, under intense pressure from various Jewish Democrats, this indicates a level of, well, fanatacism that is frightening and revolting, and signals that the Democrats have no interest in worthy bi-partisan efforts.
Even when it comes to a rogue nation that has repeatedly stated their intention to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.
And as far as having the courage and resolve to fight and defeat transnational terrorism, I think it's pretty clear by now that Obama is only comfortable when he's fighting women: Hillary and Sarah.
I could be cynical and celebrate the kapo-like behavior of the Democrats for I am certain that this disgraceful chapter will flip significant numbers of voters—especially Jewish Democrats—to the Republican side.
In fact, the latest polls show a tectonic shift by traditional Jewish Democrats to the McCain-Palin ticket.
But such a cold-blooded calculation feels like a phyrric victory.
Putting on Their Kapo Caps
The mighty Caroline Glick details which fanatic Jewish Democrats put on their kapo caps and placed partisan politics above the Persian-Islamic-Nuclear threat. We are not surprised at the names which have surfaced. As any good screenwriter knows, characters must be consistent in order to be effective and the Democrats who agitated for Palin's disinvite are the usual suspects.
The moment that [Hillary] Clinton found out that she was to share a stage with Palin, she cancelled her appearance. By cancelling, she signaled to Jewish Democrats — and Democrats in general — that opposing Palin and the Republican Party is more important than opposing Ahmadinejad and the genocidal regime he represents.
The Jewish Democrats on the rally's organizing committee got the message loud and clear. Two of the rally's co-sponsors — the Jewish Council for Public Affairs and the UJA Federation of New York demanded that the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations disinvite Palin.
The JCPA is led by Steven Gutow. Before joining the JCPA, he served as the founding executive director of the National Jewish Democratic Council, which is the Jewish support arm of the Democratic Party. The UJA Federation of New York is led by John Ruskay, who began his Jewish communal career as an anti-Israel "peace" activist in the radical CONAME and Breira organizations. Among their other endeavors, CONAME and Breira opposed US military assistance to Israel during the Yom Kippur War and called for US recognition of the PLO after the group massacred 26 children in Ma'alot in 1974.
Gutow and Ruskay were supported in their demand to disinvite Palin by the National Jewish Democratic Council and by the new Jewish pro-Palestinian lobbying group J-Street.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
Robert, I know the roots of Jewish "love" for the Dems, but for the life of me, I can't understand why even members of the local Young Israel here REFUSE TO EVEN LOOK at the evidence against Obama and the Democrats.
They just refuse to open their eyes. I get told that all woes of the past few years are the Republicans' fault, in spite of the fact we've had perhaps single worst Congress, Democrat-controlled, in many years. Iran is dismissed as nothing
There is a lot of "hear-no-evil, speak-no-evil" kind of stuff. These are Israel supporters, but they just seem blinded. Why are they so blind to what you write above?
I should be used to it, by now, but I have trouble with it. It is NOT like pre-war Germany, when Jews could not bring themselves to think they would be murdered in "civilized" Germany.
We now know better. It has only been 63 years since the end of the war! We know that Israel is constantly under threat of annihilation. But we think that these anti-Semite Dems are going to care?
What is it with us? Ugh.

Maurice:
Jews who have been voting for the democrats their entire lives find it hard to face that their party is the home of leftist Jew-haters.
Denial is the only way to deal with this bitter truth.

It is the nature of appeasers to deny that their ideology of peace at any cost always lead to ruin and destruction.

Every time a terror supporting state is treated as anything other than a gang of thugs, which they are, they believe more strongly than ever that violence has earned them respect and international recognition. And they're right! Their strategy continues to work. When namby-pambies like Carter continue to kiss their asses, Islamic fundamentalists simply continue their campaigns of violence emboldened by the prestige they've achieved, thus only perpetuating the conflict.
Not to mention, backing extremists is essentially spitting in the face of moderates who want their voices to be heard, too. This is the easy way out: listen to the guys with the guns, because the alternative is to try to understand and maneuver through the complexities of the Arab and Islamic worlds. Frankly, I blame Edward Said, but that's another story ;)

What You Should Say When Someone Asks You, "Why Can't We Just Talk to Them? What's the Harm?"
1) High level meetings with heads of state not only embolden Islamic dictators, they gives them distinct legitimacy in the Islamic world. It does terrible damage to fledging pro-Democracy groups and basically sends the message that aggression works. It does not lead to moderation.
(Yes, Egypt did sign a peace treaty with Israel that has held in many ways. But those peace talks only came after Israel proved again and again that it could defeat Egypt militarily and the U.S. proved again and again that while it would intervene... it would only do so after Israel scored clear victories. Those talks were paid for with a lot of blood. Israel's other treaty with an Arab country is with Jordan, a complete non-entity militarily that was also completely defeated time and again).
2) Nations that commit terrorist acts regularly can only be convinced to stop by military means. Any country or group that is willing to use suicide bombings is not interested in UN food assistance or microloans. We are not going to "lead by example" here.
3) There is no shame in demanding moral decency before negotiations can begin. Liberals must be made to understand that equal rights for women, homosexuals, and religious minorities are not won with protest marches and benefit concerts. The regimes must be crushed militarily. By force. Perhaps if they had an ounce of the respect they claim to have for our troops they'd be less squeamish about this. If anyone thinks the liberal establishment really does like the troops and just hates war, read this lovely piece of truth from Joel Stein: http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-stein24jan24,0,4137172.column?coll=la-news-comment-opinions If anyone thinks this ISN'T what 60% of hard-core liberals believes, you're kidding yourself.
4) Just because George Bush says it, it doesn't mean it's wrong. I understand there's a lot of crazy hatred for President Bush out there. But don't for a minute think even our worst politician comes close to these genocidal maniacs. Get over your intramural rivalry for one damn minute and get real. (This reminds me of the person I once spoke with who told me I shouldn't say anything about Muslim countries that force women to wear burkas because here in America: "we force women to hide behind a mask of make-up." Uh yeah, right same thing... Excuse me, but I'm late for the "no eye shadow stoning event" at my neighbors place).
The hatred of FDR was ripe among certain pockets of this country from day one... but just about all the FDR haters fell in line after Pearl Harbor, (that's where all the ridiculous conspiracy theories about Pearl Harbor come from; people with no true understanding of American unity). Americans are still more likely to unite behind the right cause than not, don't listen to every complainer out there getting air time these days.

jake..."the hatred of FDR"...the example that really scares me is the pattern of hate that existed among French politicians and factions prior to the debacle of 1940. Upper-class right-wingers cursed the fairly mild Socialist Leon Blum with the epithet "better Hitler than Blum." Communists and their hangers-on denounced military preparations as a profit-making capitalist plot. Newly elected Prime Minister Paul Reynaud spoke of his rival, Daldier, in these words:
"Yes, I believe he desires the victory of France, but he desires my defeat even more."
See my post J'accuse.

I'm shocked that while the press gave some coverage to the President of Iran's speech at the UN that it made no mention of his comments concerning the financial free fall of the American/Zionist Empire at the hands of "Jewish financiers and murderers". Perhaps everyone considered this too appalling to repeat. But while a shaken Paulson and an emotional Ben Shalom Bernanke did their best to answer to Congress this 'religious' speech was applauded quite warmly in the UN. Tonight this same man is literally being "honored' at a dinner sponsored by the World Council of Churches (no friend of conservative Christians). Biblical Christians are outraged and charging the WCC's actions as tantamount to honoring Hitler. You may add your name to a petition of protest at the ACLJ website. (www.ACLJ.org) The recent economic events and absolutely necessary proposal by the Treasury and Fed don't change the fact that we are establishing here are the preconditions, not of nationalism (the control of industry by govt), but of fascism (an integration of state and industry) As we teeter on the edge of a Great Depression I believe (as I have for many years) that these are the economic conditions that will allow for the rise of a new and more subtle Nazi state, one not of goose stepping brown shirts, but one that is more akin to a collective carbon monoxide poisoning. Hopefully, the protest tonight will awaken America. G_d save us.
