Gary Sinise: Great Star, Great American

getattachment.jpg
President Bush awards Hollywood star Gary Sinise with the
Presidential Citizens Medal.

This war's Bob Hope is Gary Sinise.

Gary tirelessly supports our troops and children's educational programs in Iraq—without a retinue of PR people and reporters trailing his every move and calling attention to his good deeds.

Go to my buddy Dirty Harry for the complete story.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

"It’s because we don’t know what the next hour holds for them. As tired as I might get sometimes, and I do, it is nothing compared to what they go through day-after-day with the price they are so readily willing to pay."

I remember Bob Hope with a similar comment when he was entertaining soldiers and/or Marines at some small South Pacific island - some 66 years ago.

Hope said that when he looked at the faces in front of him he knew that for some this would be the last bit of levity and humor that they would have on this earth.

It has been said that character is what one does when nobody's looking, and Gary seems to have a lot of it...

I remember reading a a short time ago some "celebrity" was in legal trouble and he wanted to ask the judge to allow him to do community service for the troops -

Gary's motivation is from the heart and like all true giving, he does it without bringing attention to himself.

Bill:

I've spent time and spoken with Gary. He's the genuine article.

I wonder how many other people in Hollywood really do feel the way Gary does, but are afraid of being vilified. Apparently, it doesn't affect his career too much...or does it?

"David Davidson" seems to be full of bile and vile.Probably sits alone in a cramped dirty apt wondering who he is going to hate next...And just in time for the Season! ;-)

Chill out David. Are you late for your klan rally? Do your parents let you play with knives or have they learned that 5 year-olds are too irresponsible?

Gary Sinise deserves all the praise we can give him for his support of the troops. Bob Hope would be proud of all that Mr Sinise has done.

I guess I ought to be more sympathetic to CSI-NY. Didn't he play that hysterical role in "Good Morning Vietnam?"

Rahel:

It's hard to know how many closet conservatives there are in Hollywood, but I know quite a few who, unlike yours truly, labor way under the radar.

Batya:

We should always remember to separate actors from their roles. Like everyone else, they have to make a parnassah.
