IDF Targets Hamas Military Targets

The IDF on Saturday night released aerial photos of Hamas facilities targeted by IAF fighter pilots on Saturday in Operation 'Cast Lead.'
The photos show the military training facilities Hamas has developed in Gaza, from where Israel forcibly evicted close to 10,000 of its Jewish citizens in August 2005 in hopes of establishing peace with its Palestinian Authority Arab neighbors.

Hamas embeds its military and training facilities in civilian areas, knowing that Israel is most careful about bombing such areas. Almost all the Gaza casualties are Hamas terrorists. The civilians who have been and will be killed, are, according to the Geneva Conventions, put at risk by Hamas, thus Hamas are responsible for their deaths, not Israel, who are defending themselves against terrorist aggression:

Article 28 of the Geneva Conventions: The presence of a protected person may not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations.

In short: Hamas are committing war crimes by using civilians as human shields.

As for the French who are accusing Israel of a disproportionate response, well, here's a news flash: disproportionate response is exactly how wars are won. But then that's not something the French would recognize since their military default is total surrender.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Yes, but one civilian we encourage Hamas to use asa human shield is Jimmy Carter. When's his next meeting with Meshal?

What's wrong with France? They get 70% of their electricity from nuclear energy! We should learn from them.

The Drudge Report has several pics of the IDF destroying military targets intermingled with residential areas. It seems that the Israelis gave them an area with a well developed infrastructure, only to have the Hamas-led people turn it into a cesspool.

And with the inevitable calls for a ceasefire, the dozens of those in the past solved nothing. Israel has to take care of business.

How many countries would tolerate rockets and morters and do nothing? It is amazing to me that Israel allowed it as long as they did.

In the Drudge report, they are quoting a Palistinian saying "this is the worse massacre in 60 years.".

If I am not mistaken the King of Jordan had 30,000 killed when they were trying to take over the Jordanian govt. I think this was in the early 70s.

Jake:

Is it true that Jimmy "Jihad" Carter was actually once the President of these United States?

It's funny, the chattering classes in America are always going on that we should be more, ahem, civilized like the French.

But when it comes to nuclear energy, which is the one thing the French actually get right, the sophisticates in America just turn a blind eye. They prefer that America remain slaves to foreign oil.

Bill:

September 1970, is when the Hashemites slaughtered tens of thousands of Palestinians to defend the Jordanian kingdom from a violent coup engineered by Fatah terrorist Yassir Arafat.

The slaughter was so massive that weeping and terrified Fatah terrorists were crossing the Jordan and begging for protection from the Israelis.

I am not a political person and I will be the first to admit that I'm not familiar with most of what you've written. Most of what I know begins with the media portrayal (which is often wrong) and then I go on the hunt for further information. One thing I've learned as I've started blogging (just a little over a month in) is that there are many, many people out there anxious to tell the real stories of what's happening out there in the world.

Human shields...incredibly disturbing! :(

Simplicity:

Thanks so much for your honesty and for recognizing that much in the mainstream media is wrong.

Blogging and reading other blogs has also opened our eyes to many other corners of truth in our world.

We sincerely hope that Seraphic Secret helps make the Middle East and Hollywood more comprehensible to you.

Have a Happy New Year.

When I traveled by way of Egged Bus into Gaza from Ashkelon and Tel-Aviv in 1974 there was nothing in Gaza except adobe two-story wood framed shacks, goats, a few open air markets, and large groups of young men idling about. So when I see pictures now, of how these cities have expanded and grown so huge with their skyscrapers, I am surprised! Obviously the so-called Israeli Occupation has obviously been a definite boon to the Arab economy.

Also, when returning back to Tel-Aviv, I walked, (yes walked along the coast north to Yaffa and Tel Aviv) and at that time there was no fence, or nothing I would call a defensive fence separating Israel from Gaza.

We are all watching this war, and so lets pray that everything works out for Israel. I believe it will.

Mr Avrech, as an old soldier sometimes I post dumb things on blogs because Latinos imbibe and get emotional and then start talking about -what the heck was that?- but I mean no harm.
