Islam = Terrorism? Duh

most wanted.JPG
FBI Most Wanted Terrorists.

But, of course, according to an opinion piece in (where else) the New York Times, it's sinister to link Islam with terrorism.

Sigh.

Seraphic Secret is proudly sinister.

Karen and I wish all our friends and relatives a happy second night of Chanuka. And if you want the perfect Chanukah gift—also excellent for Christmas—here's my shameless suggestion.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Who wrote:
"Obviously not all Muslims are terrorists but, regrettably, the majority of the terrorists in the world are Muslims."

Surprise.

(I know it's an exception. Sigh.)

Winston Churchill on Islam:

"The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities - but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome."

Just proves that the FBI, under President-elect Obama, is institutionally racist.

Why are Jews and WASPs under-represented? Or Koreans? How many gays? Or disabled? Or women?

Come to think of it, that last one's a big change from the 1970s. Wonder what Irmgard Möller makes of the current FBI most wanted terrorist line up.

A beautiful Chanukah to you, Robert!

The NYT saying that Obama should not link Islam with Terrorism isn't much different from the Clinton Administration wanting to treat terrorism as a crime (not preemptively acting on anything but prosecuting individual cases)The left sure thinks differently from the rest of us...

Certainly the madrassas in Pakistan are terrorist incubators, as the Wahabist sect in Saudi Arabia.

It certainly wasn't coincidence that the overwhelming majority of 9/11 hijackers were Saudis.

Ditto the Shia leadership in Iran.

I cannot condemn every one of the billions of Muslims as being terrorist supporters, but I am perplexed at the silence Muslim leaders show with each act of terrorism.

Imagine a Jewish or Christian group of people who felt that all "non believers" should be killed - would the world want to link these religions to the terrorists? This is more of a rhetorical question since we know the answer.

And yet many of the victims of terrorism are other Muslims - the car bombers don't care about peripheral damage.

Until responsible Muslim leaders forcefully condemn terrorist acts committed in the name of Islam one has to associate terrorism with Islam, NYT notwithstanding...

BTW a great book on the history of radical Islam is called The Looming Tower by Lawrence Wright.

Wright's contention is that modern radical Islam started with an Egyptian exchange student in of all places, Greeley, Colorado, in 1948. His name was Sayyid Qutb and his book Milestones ignited the radical Islamist movement, according to Wright. He was hanged by the Egyptians in the 1960s. I recommend this book...

Soccer Dad:

Double sigh.

A huge exception, and what have we heard since then?

Jake:

The spirit and wisdom of Churchill has been all but forgotten or just swept away in a plague of political correctness.

Antoine:

No doubt Irmgard yearns to put on a burqua and join jihad. After all Islam offers great opportunities to women... as long as they are willing to self-detonate.

I hear the self-detonators get a great dental plan.

Bill:

The billion Muslims who remain silent as Islamic terrorists continue their march on civilization are about as peace-loving as the German citizens who enabled Hitler and the Nazis.

In short, silence = acceptance.

Notice that when some dopey cartoons that poke fun at Islam and Muhammed are published in Denmark, millions of Muslims find the time and energy to protest, somewhat vigorously.

But when Islamic terror is on the march, they can't be bothered. That's because they all know that theologically the Islamists are on firm ground.

I've read "The Looming Tower." It's an essential volume. Especially for those who favor appeasement.

Jake:

I know that male self-detonators get 72 virgins, not all that much considering eternity. But what do female self-detonators get, 72 Chippendale dancers?

Your comment about Churchill and political correctness reminds me of this that I just saw this morning. Great quote. In the end he did the right thing. The shame is that he had to think about it.

Posted by: soccer dad at December 23, 2008 11:21 AM

It's sad that when some Mohammed cartoons are published the Muslims are up in arms, but when Islamic terrorists are out killing innocents of every stripe, they don't take to the streets and protest that their religion has been hijacked. Where are all the 'moderate' Muslims then?

Interestingly as Sam Harris says in his book The End of Faith, the terrorists are seen to be on more firm ground since they are actually following the Book more piously than the moderates. This makes it harder for the moderates to oppose them and exposes the true nature of the religion.

It is really sad to see this kind of unmasked ignorance and fear. No wonder the Muslim world feels it is under attack.

If all Muslims are terrorist then surely all Brits and Americans are war criminals. Any logic to that? To say that Islam = Terrorism is no more true that equating Christianity with Timothy McVeigh, or Judaism with the Arial Sharon.

And Muslims have certainly not been silent. After the London bombings in 2007 there were large anti-terror demonstrations and public condemnations by the British Muslim community. That is a pattern repeated throughout the world, it just doesn't make a good headline.
