I personally think that there is a problem with both Europe and our country, where individual liberties and freedoms are frequently trampled by the state. In Europe, while Hayek's famous "road to serfdom" has not materialized in many ways (many distinctly non-socialist Europeans are quite happy with their way of life in spite of complaints), individual decisions are frequently still dictated by the state, as they are in the US. This is probably not too surprising given that all politicians, whether Bush or Obama or Olmert or Brown, are human beings who are going to put their self-interests above everyone else's.

I agree with Barzilai -- were it not for Robert's ban on profanity, this comment would read much different.

This "mother" is evil and she is all-too-often the norm. The American public, which still gets its news (pablum) from the mainstream media, does not see this brand of Islamic hatred and barbarianism.

I can imagine that if a liberal/anti-Israel person were to see that video, they would say that the woman was driven to her point of view by the evil oppressive Israel. I mean, gosh, who could blame her, to have such a 'desperate' wish to have her children martyred, when the imperialistic Israel is stepping on her throat. Never mind that Hamas (or any other Arab government) is denying you basic human rights. The exact psychological term eludes me, but perhaps this is a really perverse version of Stockholm Syndrome - the Palestinians don't have the kechis (yiddish for guts, I guess!) to stand up to their real oppressors, Hamas, so they instead turn their anger towards an easy target: the Jews. And so many people/nations are just way too happy to go along with this pied piper.

The liberals of the world will really find out too late that the ones they defend are the ones who will gladly cut their throat, unless they join the brotherhood (and even then, they'll still cut your throat - there is no loyalty).

It's stuff like this that helped convince me that the real issue with terrorism is indeed religious poison.

I used to be one of those people who thought that Islam wasn't the problem. I thought politics and economics drove these people to kill, (however wrongly).

There are poor people and people with screwed up political leadership all over the world. None of them has embraced suicidal terror anywhere near as much as Muslims.
