Obama to Throw Israel Under the Islamist Bus

Take one Junior U.S. Senator with the most left-wing voting record—when he bothered to vote—mix in membership in a racist, Jew-and America hating Church for over 20-years, stir in friendships with American terrorists and Arab radicals, sprinkle in a healthy dose of crypto-Socialist rhetoric, and what have you got?

As Seraphic Secret blogged as soon as we took the measure of candidate Obama: the most anti-Israel, Jihad appeasing American President and administration since, well, Jimmy "Jihad" Carter.

In a nutshell, Obama's foreign policy is this: make nice to tyrants who work for America's downfall and alienate America's allies.

The White House, in classic Orwellian double-speak, refers to this moral inversion as sophisticated foreign policy.

In the real world it's called national suicide.

American Jews voted for "change" with little regard for the essential question: will the change—domestic and foreign—be for the good or the bad.

The answer is now clear.

Melanie Phillips explains it all:

As predicted here repeatedly – Obama is attempting to throw Israel under the Islamist bus, and he’s getting American Jews to do his dirty work for him. White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel reportedly told the Israel lobbying group AIPAC on Sunday that efforts to stop Iran hinged on peace talks with the Palestinians. General James Jones, National Security Adviser to Obama, reportedly told a European foreign minister a week ago that unlike the Bush administration, Obama will be ‘forceful’ with Israel. Ha’aretz reports:
Jones is quoted in the telegram as saying that the United States, European Union and moderate Arab states must redefine ‘a satisfactory endgame solution.’ The U.S. national security adviser did not mention Israel as party to these consultations.
Of course not. If you are going to throw a country under the bus, you don’t invite it to discuss the manner of its destruction with the assassins who are co-ordinating the crime. As I said here months ago, the appointment of Jones and the elevation of his post of National Security Adviser at the expense of the Secretary of State was all part of the strategy to centralise power in the hands of those who want to do Israel harm.
Yesterday Vice-President Joe Biden and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry turned the thumbscrews tighter, telling Israel to stop building more settlements, dismantle existing outposts and allow Palestinians freedom of movement.
This is all not only evil but exceptionally stupid. The idea that a Palestine state will help build a coalition against Iran is demonstrably absurd. The Arab states are beside themselves with anxiety about Iran. They want it to be attacked and its nuclear programme stopped. They are desperately fearful that the Obama administration might have decided that it can live with a nuclear Iran.

The Washington Times also worries that the U.S. is Breaking Faith with Israel.

Will the United States sell out its strongest ally in the Middle East to cozy up to its worst enemy? The Washington Times reports today that the Israeli government is increasingly worried that the Obama administration will break a 40-year understanding between Washington and Tel Aviv to keep Israel's clandestine nuclear program a secret.
Iran has long complained that Israel is given a pass on the nuclear issue. The Jewish state is suspected of possessing a small atomic arsenal, but it has never officially admitted to having a nuclear-weapons program and is not a signatory to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (nuclear states India, Pakistan and North Korea have also declined to sign). The United States has officially remained silent. Iran says it is a double standard.
On the contrary, we say it shows the United States has standards. America treats Israel and Iran differently because they are fundamentally different. Israel is a dependable U.S. ally and a free liberal democracy. Iran is a long-standing enemy of the United States, is directly or indirectly responsible via Iraqi insurgents and others for more deaths of U.S. service members than any country since the Vietnam War. Its people suffer under an oppressive theocracy. We approve of an Israeli nuclear force for the same reason we approve of a British, French or American nuclear force: We know it will serve peaceful purposes. We oppose an Iranian nuclear force for the same reason we oppose a North Korean nuclear force: We know it will not serve a peaceful purpose. Any attempt to establish parity between Israel and Iran on the nuclear issue is dangerous and naive.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

No doubt his belt buckle in the illustration says "Gott mit uns" - God with us. That's what every Nazi wore.

Do the American Jews that voted for Obama know what will happen if the U.S. doesn't stand up for Israel and the freedom of Jews to live anywhere they want? Are they that ambivalent to Israel's existence?

When Plugs Biden tells the arab population they should leave Israel then he might be worth listening to. But it always seems a one-way deal. Limit the Jews but no one else.

Viewing the video of the store in France being stripped of Israeli products points out that the U.S. is the last friend Israel will have. And that means relying on Obama to take a chance on offending his BFFs in Europe and the ME. Not going to happen.

Bill:

Obama is not a Nazi, but he is a classic European leftist appeaser with no love or loyalty to America's most steadfast and reliable ally in the ME, Israel.

It's true that George Bush advocated a Palestinain state, but in the 2005 speech in which he made this statement he also attached the provisos that the PA has to abide by their responsibilities as set forth in The Roadmap in order to achieve statehood: recognize Israel, give up terrorism, etc.

Obama has no such standards for the PA, he just wants to hand them a state and watch the fun unfold.

In short, he's advocating national suicide for Israel.

Johnny:

In truth I think most American Jews are far more devoted to the delusional Obama cult than to Israel. His biggest supporters in the Jewish community are a bunch of Reform Rabbis who style themselves post-Zionists and enjoy nothing better than to sit down and, ahem, dialog with radical Jew-hating Muslims who pass in this world and this White House for moderates.

It's an active and ignoble Judenrat.

I am not sure what Obama wants because he also said once that Jerusalem will remain the undivided capital of Israel under any circumstances.

By the way, I feel a little perplexed when we say "Obama to do this or that to Israel". Is Israel so weak that it will instantly sink without US support? I think not.

Hi Robert...commenting after a long time. I completely agree with the following statement:

"America treats Israel and Iran differently because they are fundamentally different"

That is exactly why I believe India and Pakistan should be treated differently with regard to their nuclear arsenals. One is a liberal democracy notwithstanding its fractious disputes. The other has largely been a military dictatorship whose military has been riddled with Islamic fundamentalists and who now contends the Taleban 60 miles from their capital.

I also want to comment on Israel's nuclear program. In my opinion the US should actually proudly recognise Israel's nuclear capability. There is no shame in it because as the above writer said, Israel with its liberal and responsible democracy fully deserves nuclear weapons and power.

Secondly, Israel's nuclear program is also rather obvious and not a secret. For instance it's now well-known that the French greatly aided both Israel's peaceful and military nuclear program in the 1950s. Ironically this help from France peaked after the Suez Canal crisis when Israel thought it could not depend on the US and the UK! In any case, in my opinion Israel should proudly proclaim that it has a nuclear program and that it fully deserves this.

Bob:

I am not sure what Obama wants because he also said once that Jerusalem will remain the undivided capital of Israel under any circumstances.

That's what he said at AIPAC. And the next day on CNN he said "Well, obviously, it's going to be up to the parties to negotiate a range of these issues. And Jerusalem will be part of those negotiations," Not exactly Shermanesqe in his support for an undivided Jerusalem.

Is Israel so weak that it will instantly sink without US support? I think not.

Not instantly. But look at the Yom Kippur War and how close Israel came to resorting to their nuclear weapons as it was suffering losses. The supplies from the U.S. enabled it to expend what it did have more freely. Do you think Obama would do the same today?

Look at how thin a piece of land Israel is. How hard would it be for the countries surrounding it to wear down the Israeli defenses over 10 or 20 years knowing there is no one to come to their aid?

Posted by: Johnny at May 7, 2009 04:09 PM

I don't know exactly how dependent Israel is on the U.S. for spare parts for its aircraft and other weapons systems, but I bet it's significant. This would probably not matter much in a short war, but it would in a long one.

Would Obama go so far as to say, "Israel, give up your nuclear weapons or have your essential spares cut off?" Or is he pressuring Israel in order to send a signal of "even-handedness" to Iran, etc (a very bad idea, because it would *really* be perceived as a signal of weakness) while knowing that an Israeli renunciation of its nuclear arsenal is not in the cards?

Posted by: david foster at May 7, 2009 04:38 PM

Israel cannot afford to be too dependent upon any country, US or otherwise. It's far too dangerous. Countries do not have friends, they have interests. And when those interests diverge....

"American Jews voted for "change" with little regard for the essential question: will the change—domestic and foreign—be for the good or the bad."
Here in Chicago, at least 90% (or more) of Jewish voters supported Obama. I once gave a talk at a local synagogue about "The New Anti-semitism" and an audience member asked me if I supported Obama's candidacy. I answered that discussing the political campaign may jeopardize the temple's tax exempt status. Several audience members repeated the question, so I stated that I was concerned about his past associations with Farrakan, Ali Abunimah, Bill Ayers, etc. Well, you should have heard how I was attacked after that. I was never invited back to that synagogue. It was then that I realized that progressive liberals can be as closed minded as anyone. What a shame.

Obama is bad for America.

Israel's problem is Israel. Too many Israelis don't want the full responsibility of independence. It's very upsetting to see what goes on here. You can only be bullied if you allow it.

Robert, you did try to warn people. Obama telegraphed all of this, but the desperately liberal crowd of Jews didn't care and didn't want to hear it, or even supported the anti-Israel message.

Question is, what can we do about it now? That's not rhetorical; what steps should we, both Jews and Christians who care about Israel, do, to help support Israel against this anti-Semite and his group of Israel haters-who-would-destroy-Israel?

Jerusalem will be a burden to the entire world in the last days:

Zechariah 12:2-3 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

Jerusalem will be surrounded by the armies of earth once again, but not for long:

Revelation 20:9: And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

God will not abandon Israel. He has great plans for the "Apple of His Eye."
