The Savages are Loose, Obama Waits to See How it Plays Out

“You should stop this... you should help the people of Iran who demand freedom... You should help us...”

Nah.

Barack Hussein Obama would rather sit down and chat with mass murderering mullahs because, y'know, he's just so darned smart and charming that his Jedi force field will convince them to give up their nuclear program, abandon their plans to annihilate Israel, cease oppressing women, renounce the hanging homosexuals, and sing kumbaya.

Security forces wielding clubs and firing weapons beat back demonstrators who flocked to a Tehran square Wednesday to continue protests, with one witness saying security forces beat people like "animals."
At least two sources described wild and violent conditions at a part of Tehran where protesters had planned to demonstrate.
"They were waiting for us," one source said. "They all have guns and riot uniforms. It was like a mouse trap.
"I see many people with broken arms, legs, heads — blood everywhere — pepper gas like war," the source said.
Another witness said hundreds of people were chased by security forces and clubbed about a mile from the square.
Yet another source, a man who spoke to his wife in the area of the square, recounted what she told him in a phone conversation.
He said she saw security forces shooting and beating people and saw blood on people's clothes and in the streets. The woman said security forces had been carrying butcher knives and batons.

Full story here.

But fear not, Barack Hussein Obama is “waiting to see how it plays itself out.”

Odd, I always believed that America leads the world in the cause of freedom.

Guess not.

Hope and Change for Islamic terrorists, but for a people struggling to loosen the shackles of tyranny, tepid rhetoric.

Reprehensible.

More excellent coverage of the Persian repression from my friend Wolf Howling

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Robert,

The only change here is that America is becoming a nation that once stood for hope and freedom.

Now, it seems that Obama can't move quickly enough to re-establish relations with every tin pot dictator and despot.

Assad .....Chavez....who's next?
Castro sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom??

The thought occured to me today that if the demonstrators do prevail (a big if) how will they regard Obama?

I sure miss RR

I don't think it's fair to expect Obama to get tough on Iran- after all, he's busy expending all his righteous indignation on the fact that the US interrogates terrorists. Priorities, you know!

Makes you worry about what HE"D do if we started marching to protest his stupid nationalization-of-medicine and the tax-us-to-death-global-warming-bill (Waxman-Markey) and his other asinine policies.

Obama is out to let US go to heck, and promote the jihadist and Marxist world order. He's not inept, it's all being done purposefully. Obama Derangement syndrome? When I see what he's doing with his lack of caring for the Iranians who are being murdered? And his beaming smile and fist bumping with Chavez? His utter contempt for old allies, and of course, his hatred for Israel?

The Muslim Marxist, our commander-in-chief.

The measure and character of this president was really on display last night in the ABC "Love Fest" special on health care. I know the event was not about Iran, but it tells us a lot of what we can expect from Obama on every position.

A New York doctor asked Obama: What if the president's wife and daughters got sick? Would Obama promise that they would get only the services allowed under a new government insurance plan he's proposing?

What happens next is appalling.

Obama goes on a 5-minute-plus ramble. First invoking his grandmother again, (something he does whenever he gets into trouble, remember he used his grandmother- who was dying at the time - last year and called her a racist on national TV as an "excuse" for going to Jeremiah Wright's racist "church" for 20 years... and I'm still not sure how that excuses him, even if I can be forced to believe his grandmother really was a racist), he talked about how she recently died. This had nothing to do with the question, but Charlie Gibson looked at him lovingly.

Then he rambled about costly procedures some doctors do that are not necessary. Again, not really germane to the question, but at least this time Charlie Gibson challenged Obama a bit on that.

Finally, he almost answered the question and said that: "if it's my wife, if it's my children, if it's my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care."

Still not a real answer, but coming from a man who has NEVER sent his kids to a public school I think we can figure it out. No way would Obama or any politician use the public system if they had a choice. I say "IF" because sooner or later, in the countries where they have socialized medicine, situations arise where even the rich can't get concierge care. Britain's Conservative Party leader had a very sick son who died this year and he had to use the National Health System too... he couldn't get away with coming to America to get treatment for his son. If we socialize medicine here in the States, there will be no other country for the rich and powerful to escape to. They'll be stuck too.

So he'll keep talking about engagement with Iran, Syria, etc. But real journalists should start trying to ask real questions like the doctor posed last night.

How about:

"Mr. President, how would you feel if your wife or daughter was protesting in Iran right now? Would you worried about not interfering with a foreign country?"

Or:

"Mr. President, if your daughters school were hit by a rocket fired by Hamas, would your first inclination be to demand that the school be handed over to Hamas?"

Think about it.

"The Savages are Loose, Obama Waits to See How it Plays Out"

Ann Coulter has a great post about this

" ...On Iran, President Obama is worse than Hamlet. He's Colin Powell, waiting to see who wins before picking a side.

Last week, massive protests roiled Iran in response to an apparently fraudulent presidential election, in which nutcase Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner within two hours of the polls closing. (ACORN must be involved.)

Obama responded by boldly declaring that the difference between the loon Ahmadinejad and his reformist challenger, Mir Hossein Mousavi, "may not be as great as advertised."

Maybe the thousands of dissenters risking their lives protesting on the streets of Tehran are doing so because they liked Mousavi's answer to the "boxers or briefs" question better than Ahmadinejad's. ..."

Thank you for the link and kind words. I do appreciate it Robert.

I am hoping that Obama is smart enough to be schooled, though I think it may be a fools hope. We are watching him go through the same evolution he went through on the Georgia situation, though, in this case, there is far more at stake, obviously.

I don't know if he is waiting to see who wins as much as holding out hope that there is still some chance of engaging the mad mullahs. I think it is something he has not thought through - just as his remark about Mousavi and Ahmedinejad being interchangable was not thought through.

There was never any chance of him succeeding with his talks, but to actually go through with talks under these conditions now would be a mistake of the first order. Khameini might be more willing to deal, but if so, there is no question he would ask for things in return that would help him retain power. In essence, Obama would be making a deal over the dead bodies of people who died trying to destroy this truly evil regime. If Obama thinks there is revolutionary discontent in Iran, wait til he trys to sell a deal like that to the U.S. populace.

GW:

You are very welcome.

I'm not sure that Obama is capable of learning. He seems to me to be a rigid, doctrinaire leftist whose world view was formed by his elite education and radical friends. How else to explain his bullying of Israel, and his pursuit of Socialized medicine, a proven chimera.

As in the old Soviet Union, the hacks at the top will live high on the hog, including capitalist style medical care, while the citizenry will be forced into paying crushing taxes and lousy, government controlled medical care.

Maurice:

The left are quite predictable in whom they choose to sympathize: so-called Palestinians are a fetish, though they are victims of their own dysfunctional culture. But authentic victims of totalitarian states are, well, members of their own "specific cultural norms." Thus, beyond our ethnocentric understanding.

RR:

Obama's priorities were well in evidence in the first days of his rule.

1. First phone call to a foreign, ahem, leader was to Mahmoud Abbas.

2. First executive order: close Gitmo.

The man is clueless.

Sadly, I think the mullahs are going to win this round. And if Obama then sits down with these barbarians, well, he will go down in history as an enabler of one of the most brutal and repressive regimes on earth.

During the Clinton years, the most frequent guest in the Lincoln Bedroom was terrorist Yassir Arafat. Why would Obama change the Dems playbook?
