Full Body Shmatte and the Assault on Civilization

burka-france3.jpg

Recently, France banned the burqa—excellent move—and of course, Al Qaeda has promised revenge.

I'm sure the ACLU would argue that if you ban the burqa the next step is banning yarmulkes.

But honestly, those who wear yarmulkes—Orthodox Jews like yours truly—are not seeking to undermine the West and replace democratic, freedom loving societies with a barbaric 7th Century Islamic theocracy where Jews are eliminated, homosexuals are hanged, public beheadings are frequent, women are stoned to death, and all minority religions are oppressed.

Let's face it, the burqa is part and parcel of the Islamist war against western civilization.

Pop Quiz: To whom do you think the women wearing burqas are married?

The first rule of war is: know your enemy.

Predictably, Barack Hussein Obama chooses to turn this bit of obvious wisdom on its head. Like all leftists, Obama redefines enemies as friends and friends as enemies.

In leftist circles— a group deeply attracted to totalitarian impulses—this is called “nuanced thinking.”

Pat Condell makes you laugh out loud, but as with all great comedy, his observations have the unmistakable ring of truth.

New York has a law, dating from 1845, that allows loitering charges against someone who is "masked or in any manner disguised by unusual or unnatural attire or facial alteration."

Simply put, the masks are a security threat.

Naturally, the KKK claims that the law is unconstitutional.

I am not a lawyer and I have no idea if it's unconstitutional or not.

I'm just an average American citizen with some common sense, and I don't believe that the Constitution is a document that compels national suicide.

Further, it seems to me that masked people—we have no idea if they're male or female, because they're wearing full body shmattes—are an implicit threat to civilized society.

I mean, look, when a masked, uh, thing, walks into a bank, what's the natural reaction?

You shoot them.

It's called self-defense.

Phyllis Chesler explores the issue of banning the burqa in America. She's also taking a poll and I voted, duh, Yes.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

It pains me, Robert, to disagree with you.

You are no average American citizen. You are a GREAT American citizen. Sean would say so too, I am sure.

" ... I'm sure the ACLU would argue that if you ban the burqa the next step is banning yarmulkes ... "

the ACLU couldn't care less about yarmulkas,
except for the variant caps that some Somali, Pakistani, or Bangladeshi Muslims wear

Condell is very sharp & funny. But I believe I've heard him deride all religion with as much fervor as he does Islam.

For some odd reason, the picture reminded me of pics of the Morlocks from "The Time Machine", 1960 version.

The souls of the men who would put their women in those outfits certainly are as ugly (and some of the women who wear 'em aren't any better).

Reminds me of this exchange in "Dirty Harry":

MAYOR: I don't want any more trouble like you had last year in the Fillmore district. Understand? That's my policy.

HARRY: Yeah, well when an adult male is chasing a female with intent to commit rape, I shoot the bastard. That's my policy.

MAYOR: Intent? How did you establish that?

HARRY: When a naked man is chasing a woman through an alley with a butcher knife and a -----, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross. (Leaves)

MAYOR: I think he's got a point.

Of course then you had THIS exchange in the "Naked Gun," which doesn't teach us anything, but leaves us laughing:

Mayor Barkley: Oh Drebin. I don't want any more trouble like you had last year on the southside. Understand? Thats my policy.

Frank Drebin: Yes, well. When I see five weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in plain view of a hundred people, I shoot the bastards, that's my policy.

Mayor Barkley: That was a Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar, you moron! You killed five actors! Good ones!

Once again the moral equivalency argument rears its head. Women forced to wear a burqa = Jews wearing a yarmulke.

I'm young enough that I went to church pre-Vatican II when women were supposed to wear something on their head when they went to mass. But if a girl forgot they weren't taken out and stoned.

Can anyone defend Islamic practices without saying every religion does it? Lobbing a rocket at a school is not the same as targeting known terrorists. Tracking down those responsible for the murders in Munich is not the same as breaking into a dormitory and killing unarmed athletes and coaches. Stoning a woman because she disgraced her family by being raped is not the same as only allowing men to be priests or rabbis. And forcing a woman to wear a burqa is not the same as wearing a yarmulke.

It gets old when people keep trying to equate a religion stuck in the 7th century with the rest of us.

I always find the burkha arguments a bit amusing in light of the fact that Turkey and one other of the Muslim countries, its identity escapes me at the moment, also ban them in all public buildings. That ought to be a real clue to those in the West who see the wearing of a burkha as harmless. Yet another wrong misstep by Obama, making this one of the centerpieces of his new chapter in relations with the ummah (sp?).

When I renewed (applied for a new) passport in the E. Jerusalem US Consulate, an Arab clerk warned me that my picture may possibly be rejected, because I didn't show enough hairline. I was wearing a small crocheted hat. (Wigs which totally distort/hide natural hairline are ignored.)

I highly doubt that the clerks would say anything to the Moslem women all covered up.

And I remember giving up my NY Drivers License, partially, because they asked for a picture sans hat/hair covering. That was about 25 years ago.

Hi, Robert.

I've blogged some similar sentiments to yours, if anyone's interested.

Dr. Carol:

Aw shucks:-)

Exdem:

Of course the ACLU doesn't care about yarmulke's. They would cynically use the yarmulke as an argument for the burqa.

Kishke:

I am not aware of Condell's other videos. I'll take a look. Thanks so much.

Oh, man, I just love Dirty Harry.

Great recall, thanks so much.

Please forward to The Dear Leader.

Johnny:

What can I say, but your comment is filled with common sense and a high awareness of morality. And is is for those two reasons that the chattering classes are deaf to such arguments.

Just observe The Dear Leader as he embarks on a foreign policy that is all fuzzy-wuzzy towards Muslim tyrants and South American dictators, and shatters relationships with America's allies.

GW:

Indeed, Obama's tender feelings towards this barbaric mode of dress is yet another sign that BO has no idea how and when to exercise the power of his office. Shocking from a man who, we were lectured, was uniquely qualified for the office because of his stint as a community organizer.

Batya:

The other day a friend who also covers her hair told me that Homeland Security people insisted on doing a full body scan on her because she didn't want to remove her hat. Meanwhile, a Muslim woman in a veil and a huge sack-like, um, Mu-Mu, sailed right through.

I feel so much safer now.
