Jew-hatred: The New Cool
![]()
Cartoon by Hugh MacLeod.
As the Van Jones scandal broke—on the blogosphere via Gateway Pundit, and on Fox's Glenn Beck—I turned to Karen and said:
“Guaranteed, this guy is also a gold-played Jew-hater.”
Not a hard call.
As you move leftward on the political scale so does the level and tolerance of Jew-hatred.
This oldest of hatreds is dressed up in the Orwellian language of human rights, social justice, and support for the Palestinian people. But it's the same gutter-level Jew-hatred that gripped Nazi Germany, and which now animates the entire Arab Muslim world.
Jew-hatred comes in many guises.
Human Rights Watch, as my friend Omri Ceren has just uncovered, employs a Nazi fan boy to investigate Israel.
Jimmy Carter, Desmond Tutu and Mary Robinson—calling themselves The Elders, because Jew-hatred is the new wisdom—travel around Israel and self-righteously cluck about the evil Israelis.
Question: Why aren't they in Iran, Congo, Libya, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Syria, Saudi Arabia, where murder, torture and rape are sport?
Answer: Because there are no Jews in these blighted Lands.
Van Jones: ignored by ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, The New York Times, the entire MSM. But now that this loathsome creature, a 9-11 truther, is gone, the MSM are piling on, defending a self-confessed Communist and now revealed, a Jew-hater.
Here's Van Jones ranting about Israel:
I came to the holy land to get a view of the human rights situation. I was totally unprepared. THE WORST RACIAL PRACTICES OF THE LAST CENTURY ARE PRESENT HERE, IN SHOCKING COMBINATION. Arab citizens under a pass situation like apartheid... about the harassment of an Arab American in our group at the airport... people in the U.S. don't have a clear view of what is going on.. like 'settlements'... 30,000 people in massive cities, with Burger Kings and malls, and defended with the whole might of the Israeli army... wholesale demolition of Palestinian homes... the US supporting the whole mess.. to see it... to see what it means for Arab people is really really distressing.
I came over here very concerned about Israeli children living in fear... nobody is winning here. WHAT I'VE SEEN HERE GOES FAR BEYOND WHAT COULD BE CONSIDERED FOR SAFETY. ABSOLUTE HOUSE ARREST FOR EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN A CITY... 24/7 FOR WEEKS AT A TIME... NONE OF THIS COULD RATIONALLY BE CONCEIVED OF AS DEFENSE... I HAVE BEEN A LIFELONG OPPONENT OF ANTI-SEMITISM. NOW NOT TO SPEAK OUT HERE IS ANTI-SEMITIC. WE OWE IT TO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL. AND PALESTINE TO PUT AN END TO THESE KIND OF ABUSES. THERE IS NO DIVISION BETWEEN US POLICY TOWARD IRAQ AND TOWARD ISRAEL-PALESTINE. THE U.S. GOVERNMENT ON THE WRONG SIDE OF SANITY. to push Iraq into a corner and threaten it with massive war. We need new leadership in Tel Aviv and Washington.. let's link all these situations together... boldly speaking the truth... I went to the funeral of a young Palestinian boy shot by Israeli soldier... I saw his bloody body being placed into the ground... since I've been here four children killed by soldiers... not being reported by the media... but being recorded in the hearts and minds of the mothers and fathers here.
Entirely predictable: dressing up his Jew-hatred as someone who is an opponent of Jew-hatred. The left has perfected this black flag strategy.
The entire, lunatic transcript is here.
Van Jones is just one in a long line of Obama associates, friends and, ahem, spiritual mentors, who hate America, Israel/Jews.
Here's Charles Krauthammer drawing a line from Jeremiah Wright to Van Jones. “It's a reflection of the boss.”
But of course, to the Democrats, Van Jones is a hero:
How many of Obama's Czars will be revealed—by the blogosphere and Fox News—as left wing radicals completely out of step with America and American values?
Update #1: Our friend Jake Novak, senior producer at Fox Business News draws our attention to John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar—and a genuine moon bat.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.
1. No profanity.2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism. That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.
Maybe, just maybe, Obama WAS awake during the 20 years of anti-Jewish spewing-of-hatred by his Reverend Wright?
Ya think?
Van Jones was not put in place by accident nor by incompetence. He is a perfect reflection of Obama's beliefs. Sickening.

Robert:
Van Jones was attacked as part of a dirty smear campaign by right wingers like Beck.
They kept playing his own words in context.
Just like they did with Wright.
How dare they stoop so low as to smear him with his own words. Next thing you know they will start reading parts of Dreams Of My Father.
Man, those right wing haters really know how to play dirty.

I'm between a rock and a hard place here. Fox News lies about everything; conservatives in America have lost their minds; pro-Israel supporters in the US have been forced into the arms of nut jobs (Huckabee, etc.). Man oh man. How do we support Israel against her detractors and how do we respond to anti-semitism without making a deal with the devil (American conservatives)? The idea that Obama is a intractable anti-semite is nonsense and yet it is becoming the coin of the realm among my Israeli friends. This distorts all dialogue on Israel and makes Israel's supporters in the US look like unreasonalbe (and anti-American) extremists. We can do better.

After Palin was picked last year, Omri's website posted an Alaska travel video interview with her. Recorded before most people could spell Palin, it subtly revealed her affection for Israel that neither Obama or Biden could match no matter how often they say they would never throw Israel under the bus.
David, why are conservatives that support Israel the devil when liberals like Van Jones or Michelle Goldberg would like to to see Israel forced to accept right of return? It seems to me the liberal angels would be happy to see Jews overrun in the only part of the world that is their historical homeland.

-Why aren't they in Iran, Congo, Libya, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Syria, Saudi Arabia, where murder, torture and rape are sport?
Another Answer: Because these countries would never have allowed them to do it, and they wouldn't have dared to freely enter these countries the way they enter Israel. Israel like some other liberal countries actually allows criticism.

David:
Ad hominem attacks with zero supporting facts indicate intellectual collapse.
President Obama spent over 20 years as a faithful member of a racist Jew-hating church. We cannot judge people by what is in their thoughts, but only through their behavior.
The other day, in my post about “The Eternal Mystery of Goodness”, http://www.seraphicpress.com/archives/2009/09/the_eternal_mys.php commenter Jake related the story of a Polish prostitute who, though she admitted that she did not like Jews, nevertheless fed and rescued Jews during World war II.
Was she a Jew-hater?
In my accounting, most certainly not. She risked life and limb to save Jews. She was a righteous person.
In contrast, with President Obama, there is a huge gulf between what he says, and how he behaves.
Let's say he's not a Jew-hater. Fine. But he's clearly comfortable with Jew-haters and his entire political life has been spent nurturing their support and friendship.
Now, step outside your mind for a moment and imagine your reaction of John McCain or any Republican leader was revealed to be a member of a KKK church.
What would be your reaction?
The answer is obvious.
Hence, your acceptance of Obama's Jew-hating associates reveals a disturbing double standard, and a tolerance of the intolerant, namely Jew-hatred from the left.
Davo:
Nevertheless, Carter & Co. could, if they were so inclined, compile reports about these countries and raise international awareness. But they choose silence. The choose to enable tyrants. They choose to focus on Israel.

Nevertheless, Carter & Co, could, if they wished, speak out about the horrors in these countries. The choose silence. Instead, they focus on Israel. That is one indication of Jew-hatred.

Maurice:
Obama said, many times, that Wright was his spiritual mentor. He performed Obama's wedding ceremony and baptized his children. To claim that Obama did not know what Wright was saying is, at the least, dumb, at best a bold lie.

Robert:
A lie! Even Obama is too smart not to know what Wright was saying.

Johnny:
Let's see, Gateway Pundit and Fox report a story that the MSM ignores. Van Jones resigns. Which means that the White House agreed with the criticism. Or they would have defended Van Jones.
In short, telling the truth is, in the progressive lexicon, a smear.
Makes perfect sense.

Robert:
The dishonesty continues even after Jones quit. Howard Dean on Fox yesterday said all Jones did was sign some paper that was waved in front of him without reading it (must make Yale Law School proud that their graduates would ever do that) and Politco implies that the petition was changed after Jones signed it.
And the same Wahington Post that ran dozens of front page stories about George Allen's macaca line can't find space to run one story about Jones before he resigned.
And the media wonder why papers are losing money.

David,
I understand your rock-and-hard place. But I do still believe their are allies on both the Left and Right as well as enemies. As a Jewish-American the stakes are too high to be put in a corner but I will say the Republicans will need to really screw up to have me vote for Obama again.
Posted by: marcus at September 8, 2009 09:38 PM
Of course Obama knew just exactly what he was getting with Van Jones. Okay, he resigned. Will he really stop serving his blessed leader? I doubt it.

Robert,
We had the same sense about Van Jones. Hey -- does that also apply to the Institute of Noetic Sciences? (http://www.noetic.org/)
Van Jones was a main speaker and member there.
