How to Kill a Terrorist

william_powell_.jpg
Meet Larry, my buddy from Bensonhurst. Okay, so it’s not Larry.
For reasons of security his identity cannot be compromised. But take
my word for it, Larry looks exactly like William Powell in The Thin Man.
Or not.

My wife Karen and I are visiting Karen’s brother David, his wife Elana, and their four children, residents of Efrat.

Attending Shabbat services in an Efrat synagogue, out of the corner of my eye, I spot “Larry.”

Security requires that I do not use his real name.

We’re both from Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, a tough neighborhood even by Brooklyn standards. Together, we attended high school, Brooklyn Talmudic Academy, a tough Yeshiva even by San Quentin standards.

We have been friends forever.

Larry’s parents are Holocaust survivors and as Larry often tells me, his father is obsessed over the fact that so many Jews were unprepared, mentally and physically, to fight the Nazis.

“He’s written thousands of pages about this,” Larry confides.

Thus, it is only fitting and somewhat ironic that several years ago, in an Efrat supermarket, Larry bravely confronted an Arab Muslim homicide bomber and deleted the terrorist.

Larry and I discuss the killing which probably saved dozens of innocent lives, men, women, children and infants.

“How’d you know he was a terrorist?”

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

I remember that a woman killed a terrorist in an Efrat supermarket. Am I wrong?

My comments at BH seem to go into the "bit bucket" Robert so I'll put it here -

Interesting story Robert. All too often our minds try to rationalize away small things that could be danger. But sometimes it's the small details that determines whether you live or die. I think the armed forces even have a color term for it - condition green, yellow or red. All to do with "situational awareness". Each condition from green up demands a higher state of awareness.

Larry was the only one in condition yellow or red - the others in the store were green.

The guys from BTA used to steal my lunch money when I was in high school... and the school had already been closed for 5 years!

Ben, a woman did not kill the terrorist in the supermarket. It was Roberts' friend "Larry" who killed the terrorist. BTW, my house, was the last house this terrorist worked in as a sheet rocker.

Another excellent post, Robert! Kudos to Larry. Praise be to G-d for the outcome at the supermarket!

As for the liberal commenter at Big Hollywood, did you notice how he used the classic "we are all the same, it just depends on your point of view' argument -- as if there were no moral difference between George Washington and Major Hasan? Evil exists in the world and Maj. Hasan and Larry's Arab terrorist personify it. Be vigilant and take decisive action when necessary -- just like Larry did.

Bensonhurst Bad Boyz rule... ;-)

Elana: I couldn't help but chuckle when I read your comment. Not because it was funny, but because I think President Obama (who claims Major Hasan just "snapped" -- implying there was nothing political about the attack) would have suggested there was something about working in your house which must have sent him "over the edge"...

Why is it when a liberal argues about terrorism, s/he uses the "we're all the same deep inside -- no one is better than anyone else" argument, but when it comes to governance, we're too stupid to comprehend personal healthcare issues and must be ruled by the elite leaders?

Posted by: ProphetJoe at November 10, 2009 12:55 PM

Robert, is Elana who commented above, your sister in law from the story??

Posted by: ProphetJoe at November 10, 2009 01:00 PM

Yeah, Hasan snapped. Months before he snapped he's telling others that non-muslims should be beheaded and muslims should not fight other muslims. Just like Manson snapped in March of 1967 before the killings in 1969. Those are some really long snaps.

Thankfully there are people like your friend that don't let PC prevent them from acting. Remember that a ticket agent in Boston had suspicions on 9-11 about one of the terrorists but didn't say anything. The army had a lot more evidence on Hasan and 13 people died.

If the result of Fort Hood is that the PC culture is eradicated from every level of our government then something good will have resulted from their deaths. But I fear this incident will be whitewashed to say Hasan was mentally disturbed and just happened to be a member of the religion of peace.

Efrat is a great town - my brother-in-law lives there - were you at the Rimon Synagogue?

Posted by: Mark at November 10, 2009 07:47 PM

Robert,
Thank you for posting this. I really wish that we had the kind of gun policies that Israel has. They have a right to defend themselves in public, why can't we?

I am also disgusted at how Obama is handling (or not handling) the terrorism at Ft. Hood. This is a disruption for him. A disruption!!! If this G-d forbid, would have happened at a school, there would be psychologists all over this trying to help classmates cope - Obama seems to think that by saying euphemisms like "it's a tragedy" that it will make it all better. How on earth is this man qualified to be the leader of our country????

Also, here's an article about how Obama is really brushing aside the terrorist act at Ft. Hood. How ANYONE who loves America still supports this man, please get help for your hallucinations.

Since Larry looks like William Powell, I'm hoping his wife looks like Myrna Loy (one of my favorites!)

Bill:
If you live in Israel you are always in condition Red.

Jake:
You're lucky, the BTA bullies used to steal my shoes!

Elana:
Thanks so much for jumping in.

Prophet Joe:
The liberal commenter at BH, is in fact a jihadist who regularly drops Jew-hating comments in my various posts. I'm happy he shows up because he is a perfect demonstration of the depraved Islamist mind set that recognizes no rational thought, and must be annihilated.

Uh-huh, Elana is my sister-in-law, and she is excellent with a pistol.

Yup, Larry's wife looks exactly like Myran Loy.

Johnny:
Hey remember Sirhan Sirhan, the Arab who assassinated Robert F. Kennedy? Well, if you check the news copy of the time you'll see that he was also labeled a mentally unstable lone wolf gunmen. In fact, he was an Arab Muslim terrorist, the opening salvo in their war against Jews and Crusaders.

Mark:
Efrat is just lovely.

Well, kudos to Larry. I'd like to buy him a few beers.
