Friday Footwear: The Newlywed Edition

Footwear Newlywed.jpg

Karen and I land in N.Y at about midnight. Offspring #3 and her wonderful husband pick us up and we spend our first night in their extremely neat, extremely clean apartment.

I notice that Offspring #3 has acquired some new shoes, and so this morning, after my daughter finishes cooking—we're all heading over to Offspring #2's for a family Shabbat—I ask Offspring #3 to pose in her new very cute booties.

“Where'd you get them?”

“Mail order Endless.com.”

“Are they comfortable?”

“Nooooo!”

“But you wear them, huh?”

“Already worn them twice.”

That's my girl, willing to sacrifice comfort on the altar of fashion.

This is going to be a wonderful Shabbat, Karen and I will be with our girlses, our granddaughter Ma'ayan Ariel, our wonderful son-in-laws. Visiting from Israel are Karen's brother David, and Yitzchak, husband to Rena, Karen's older sister. And as an extra added bonus, Karen's mother is also joining us. It's going to be a lively Shabbat with lots of food and lots of conversation.

Our entire family wishes you a wonderful and inspiring Shabbat.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

1. No profanity.

2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Sounds absolutely lovely - enjoy!

Sounds like you are going to have a wonderful Shabbat! My best to all. (Note I am not commenting on uncomfortable shoes-shudder)

I have to say you told us all the most important details, except the MOST important one of all: what's on the menu??? Seriously, I can't picture this Shabbat for you unless I know if you're having chicken or beef, gefilte fish or knishes, salad or soup.

Please, I'm dying here!

Jake:

Chicken soup, gefilte fish, salad, turkey roll, potato kugel, noodle kugel, basically, everything!

I will be dying here!

Dr. Carol:

Cute shoes, good food, family, life is good.

It is a mystery to the male of the species why females will endure uncomfortable shoes all in the name of "fashion".

Speaking of which Larry and I were watching A Stranger Among Us - I always like seeing movies at least 2x - because I pick up on critical scenes - dialogue - that I missed before.

And I noticed that Detective Emily Eden - the vivacious Malanie Griffith - in between shooting and collaring perps - is wearing - high heels.

I am smiling trying to picture her running through Brooklyn in high heels while chasing bad guys.

Oy. My feet ache looking at her booties. But truly my heart aches 'cause I can't balance myself on stilts anymore.

Me, I ordered the Dr. Scholls booties from Endless.com

"Try walking a mile in my shoes" is a famous expression, and I'm sure your daughter can toss it around readily as she totters on those heels!

Let her wear her new shoes in good health.

I can't wear uncomfortable shoes. So don't look at my feet, please.
