It should be clear, even to Obama’s most feverish supporters/worshippers, that the oil spill has engulfed not just the Gulf but the White House.
It’s day 58, and Obama’s only plan is to ram his Cap and Tax legislation down our throats. Because, y’know, he’s going to create “millions” of green jobs for a green economy and…
…and the earth will heal and the oceans will recede.
In short, Obama wants the government to nationalize private energy industries because as we all know, humongous government does such a good job at, well, everything.
Did you notice Obama’s emphasis on the phrase: “Addiction to oil.”
You see, we Americans are morally and physically diseased. We’re insatiable, bottom-feeding junkies. Criminals.
With those three words, an uncompromising and false moral judgement, Obama damns our entire culture as corrupt and decadent.
The solution, obviously, is clean energy.
An industry that does not exist.
I wish it did, and I hope entrepreuners find a way of making clean energy financially viable, but for the moment, clean energy is not a serious option.
Look, I don’t want to enrich Saudi Arabia, Venezuela or Iran with our petro dollars.
And we don’t have to.
We can drill in ANWR, or shallow off-shore sites, and cut our dependency on foreign oil.
But the environmentalists have pushed the oil industry into drilling a mile down, at the very edge of our technological expertise.
We should not be drilling in such deep waters.
It is unnecessary, stupid, and invites disaster.
But Democrats, in an unholy alliance with environmental hysterics, have so limited our choices that oil disasters are all but inevitable.
Karl Rove analyzes Obama’s political strategy:
What about nuclear energy?
Not one American has ever died in a nuclear accident, yet we have not built a single nuclear plant in over forty years.
Again, the environmental fanatics have shut us down.
I hate to say this, but France is actually more sane than America. At least 70% of their energy needs are provided by nuclear power.
What about coal and natural gas?
Oh right, Obama plans to levy massive taxes on these industries.
Makes sense, right?
Only if you’re a statist intent on centralizing power.
Only if you’re a hard left idealogue intent on redistributing wealth.
If green jobs were practical then the private sector would be leading the charge. But you’ll notice that the White House has not installed solar panels on the roof. There are no wind mills on the White House lawn.
The technology is not yet ready to replace fossil fuels.
Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring was the rallying cry for banning DDT because of environmental hysteria.
So, DDT was banned and as a direct result millions of Africans died from Malaria.
Thus the DDT environmentalists are, for all practical purposes, a bunch of rascist genociders
It’s the same with the oil industry.
Obama is going to choke the oil industry to death—shareholders will suffer financial ruin—and then he’s going to, ahem, fix the problem by creating more vast government bureaucracies for non-existent green jobs for a non-existent green economy.
Which is only fitting for a non-existent leader.
Sarah Palin, who actually knows something about oil and oil companies, reacts to Obama’s speech:
