Take a look at what’s happening in Australia as the anti-gun fanatics move towards a complete weapons ban for private citizens.

It doesn’t take a genius to recognize that good citizens will hand over their weapons rather than stand in violation of the law and go to jail.

Criminals then take advantage of the unarmed citizens.

1. This is called cause and effect.

2. Anti-gun fanatics are cause and effect deniers.

I am republishing this true life story from 2007 for the same reason I republished Jew Without a Gun, my nightmarish report of being trapped with my family, unarmed and defenseless, in the 1992 L.A. Riots.

This is another cautionary tale — not about the riots — but about one frightened and helpless young woman who was being stalked by an ex-boyfriend. I met her in a gun shop where she, a fragile, naive pacifist, ended up because there was nowhere else to turn. There was no choice for this young woman but seek to arm herself with a lethal weapon.

The Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre has sharpened the claws of the statist utopians, whose ultimate aim is not gun-control, but the complete disarming of law-abiding American citizens.

To the liberal/progressive/Democrat/collectivist, it’s perfectly natural to ban a 16 oz. cup of soda, mandate how your toilet flushes and set the water pressure of your shower head. And the crown jewel: Obamacare, wherein the state owns your body from cradle to grave. Naturally, it’s cool to abort a baby in the womb because, y’know, it’s mommy’s body and she has the right to choose… infanticide. But not so much with everybody else’s body. So the oh-so-sensitive and caring liberal/progressive rams through laws that make the state nanny to our children’s school diet. In short, they now have dominion over your child’s body and mind.

Orwell’s “1984” nightmare world where slavery is freedom has reached its apotheosis in the utopian programs of the American left.

But the greatest threat to the progressive totalitarian state is a free and armed citizenry.

Fade In:

“Thing is, he’s going to kill me.”

“Have you gone to the police?”

“Yes, of course I have.”

“And what happened?”

She shakes her head from side to side, wraps spindly arms protectively around her chest.

“I got a restraining order against Ned — that’s my ex. But you know what good that is, don’t you?”

“Tell me.”

She inscribes a big zero in the air.

I am republishing my three-part series about the Los Angeles Riots of 1992 in which Karen and I and the children were trapped for several frightening hours. We were unarmed, helpless save for our wits. The police were conspicuously absent and the bad guys, frequently armed with heavy weapons, owned the streets. It was a defining moment in my life.

I’m reposting this series as a cautionary tale because the Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre has sharpened the claws of the statist utopians, whose ultimate aim is to disarm law-abiding American citizens.

Just as Obamacare has nothing to do with health, and cap and trade has nothing to do with so-called global warming, anti-gun laws have nothing to do with saving children’s lives.

It’s just another opportunity for the left to centralize power.

Part One

Hollywood is Burning

Hollywood is on fire.

Karen and I lock every door in the house, shut tight the windows. We move through the house switching off all the lights.

Gazing from our bedroom window we watch orange flames lick at the darkness, pillars of black smoke climb into the sky. We can actually smell the acrid odor of burning rubber.

“Look how close they are,” says Karen.

“Just past La Cienega. Maybe eight blocks away.”

Karen gives me a long penetrating gaze:

“What do we do if they come here?”

My mind is racing away. The truth is we are defenseless. Unless I get crazy inventive like Dustin Hoffman in Straw Dogs.

“After this is all over,” I vow, “I’m going to buy a pistol.”

Karen says: “How about a shotgun?”

Israel and China React to the Massacre of the Innocent at Sandy Hook

A friend of Ms. Soto posted this picture of Vicki and wrote: “When the shooting started Vicki hid her kids in closets and when the gunman came into her room she said the class was in gym. She was then murdered. Not one of her students were harmed. Words can not express how heartbreaking and tragic this is. The following is the text of the letter that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent to US President Barack Obama:

Dear President Obama,
I was shocked and horrified by today’s savage massacre of innocent children and adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. We in Israel have experienced such cruel acts of slaughter and we know the shock and agony they bring. I want to express my profound grief, and that of all the people in Israel, to the families that lost their loved ones. May you and the American people find the strength to overcome this unspeakable tragedy.

In the wake of the atrocity last week at Sandy Hook elementary school, we are, once again, beng lectured by statist utopians that the problem is guns, that America is steeped in a culture of violence, that free citizens need to hand over more control to government agencies.

The truths are simple and stark:

1. Evil is real. Cain killed Abel, and murder has been with us ever since. Only the tools change: from sticks and stones to spears and swords, bows and arrows, cannons, guns, machine guns, and now annihilating atomic weapons.
