Seraphic Secret received a review copy of Ally, Michael B. Oren’s latest book.
We have been reading it in great gulps and a full review will follow. It is a beautifully written account of Oren’s life as a Zionist-inspired youth, his struggles to achieve success as an historian, and his tenure as Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. during Barack Obama’s first term, a dreadful turning point in Israel-America relations — exactly as Obama planned.
A tantalizing tidbit dropped is a never-produced screenplay Oren wrote about the great British soldier and Zionist, Orde Wingate.
In advance of the publication of his book, Oren has written an OpEd in this morning’s WSJ.
Oren is far too generous when he refuses to characterize Obama as anti-Israel. When a friend punches you in the face repeatedly, he is, by definition, no longer your friend, but your determined your enemy. In any case, the book and this OpEd are a privileged look into the disaster that is the Obama foreign policy towards not just Israel, but the entire Middle East.
