Barack Hussein Obama is set to deliver a, sigh, major speech (does this man ever deliver minor speeches?) about so-called climate change.
Whatever happened to Global Warming?
And gee, back in the ice age of 1977, Time published a cover story about global cooling and the impending, y’know, Ice Age.

Here’s how it works: The left manufactures a crisis, invents fantastical language to sell their hysterical narrative, and then propose solutions that always involve:
- Raising taxes.
- Dropping regulations on the American people that strangle free enterprise and personal liberty.
- Hiring legions of hostile government bureaucrats to enforce the blizzard of new regulations.
- And when the predictions of the left turn out to be false—as they always are—the media, in service to the regulatory government, consign the truth to a Soviet-style memory hole.
Barack Hussein Obama’s mission is to turn America into a European-style socialist economy. The fact that such economies are teetering on the edge of ruin is an inconsequential detail. The intention to create an allegedly more fair and just society is enough to justify, well, anything.
Climate change, like all radical Democrat programs, involves people control.
Liberty is too messy, too chaotic for the forces of the Democrat party. They yearn for conformity, for a uniform sameness that gives the illusion of a serenely content society. That’s why they want to get rid of cars and shove us all into railroad cars. Socialists just love cattle cars; they just relabel them high-speed rail.
That’s why Democrats want to get rid of the Second Amendment. An armed citizenry can resist an unjust government.
Ultimately, the Democrat party is obsessed with micro-control of space, private and public, of “every breath you take, every move you make.”
Short list: Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, open borders, industrial abortion, the hollowing out of the US military—IslamoNazis do not exist in the brave new world of the radical left—and now bypassing Congress (i.e., the American people) and the rule of law to create a delusional green economy which means higher taxes, sky-high energy bills, and the mugging of key industries such as coal and oil.
This is madness.
I don’t recognize my country of birth anymore. I pray the U.S. will recover, and soon.
This is the age of Obatyranny.
That April 1977 cover has two great arguments against the Liberals on it:
1. They worried about “global cooling” toward a new Ice Age before they worried about “global warming.”
2. They said we couldn’t beat the Soviets. Ronald Reagan put the lie to that. He knew that the Soviets couldn’t outspend us because they were already broke and then some. So, he shattered their economy and ended Soviet Communism.
When every speech you make is major … none is major.
In 1977 we were told by our “betters” that the world was cooling, and that we couldn’t beat the Soviets. Good thing we didn’t take their advice then, as we shouldn’t take it now.
Is it a coincidence that the push for solving global warming took off after the fall of the Soviet Union?
And I don’t believe in coincidences.
No coincidence. No way.
Governments need “problems” to “solve”. Preferably “problems” that can’t ever be solved, so they don’t have to worry about accidentally losing the justification for spending our money.
When a problem does get solved, a mad scramble results to find a new one. There are plenty of examples. One of the most damaging ones is the invention of the “drug problem”. Basically, that was a continued employment scheme for (alcohol) prohibition enforcers who all of a sudden had nothing to do. So they came up with a new scam, and they have been riding high ever since.
And the NFA of 1934, ostensibly designed to curb firearm violence among bootlegging gangsters, a year after Prohibition was repealed. In reality, a makework program for tax agents.
The founder of Greenpeace noticed the same thing — that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the environmental movement was flooded with new members who all seemed to know each other and seemed to have more than just the environment on their minds.
My friend David Horowitz refers to these people as “Watermelons.” Green on the outside, red at the core.
Like you, I also don’t recognize my country any more. What I am afraid of, however, is that we may have passed the point of no return. God help us if that is so.
I fear that Obamacare and now the Immigration bill has turned America into a EU colony.
We’re getting into this big-time on my show on CNBC tonight and tomorrow night. Tonight we have the brilliant Stephen Hayward, who routinely exposes the global warming alarmists, and tomorrow night we have Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who recognizes this is really a war on coal and he is one livid Democrat right now.
Jake:
Keep up the fine work on your show the Kudlow Report.
I remember a flight I took back in the 70s. While waiting to board, I bought a
copy of Scientific American to read on the plane. There was a long article on
the coming ice age, complete with an artist’s rendition of a glacier approaching
the Empire State Building. It was an ominous painting…the glacier was almost
as thick as the Empire State Building was high.
Now we eagerly await Obama’s speech on climate change. It won’t be about climate
change…it’ll be about a power grab in the name of climate change. More taxes
anyone?
Considering you can find evidence in Central Park that New York City was once covered in ice a mile thick, a glacier as thick as the ESB is high would be an understatement.
But conservatives are supposed to be anti-science troglodytes so what do I know?
Johnny:
Yes, we Conservatives are dumb. That’s a fact because the Dems tell us so. Endlessly.
Hoss:
There isn’t enough money in the entire world for the left to spend.
That’s alright, Robert. It’s a tried and true principle of the Left — just print more money!
