Walter Bedell Smith, Eisenhower’s aide, gave it 50% chance of success. I have been reading about it and astounded at the intelligence war between the Allies and the Abwehr. It is truly amazing that with the scope of this, the Allies successful concealed the landing site from the Germans. They were so successful that even after the invasion they kept reinforcements at Calais.
