Hamas terrorists kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit on June 25, 2006. The Red Cross has never been allowed to visit him, nor have any of the so-called human rights groups agitated to visit and deliver messages from his family.
Hamas is an IslamoNazi movement whose charter blames the Jews for both World Wars, quotes generously from the notorious Jew-hating Tzarist forgery, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and advocates the annihilation of Israel and the genocide of the Jewish people.
This is the duly elected government of the Arabs who live in Gaza. In short, Hamas represents the will of the people.
Apparently, Israel has concluded a deal with Hamas. In return for Gilad Shalit—I assume an alive Shalit—Israel will set free 1,027 terrorists. Those Arabs with blood on their hands are, according to published reports, excluded from this deal.
Seraphic Secret hopes that Gilad Shalit will be set free to reunited with his family and countrymen who yearn for this young man’s release from a captivity in what must be a living hell.
However, we are dismayed that, once again, Israel has put herself into the untenable position where terrorists dictate the terms of the deal.
What has happened to the country that executed the brilliant raid on Entebbe? What happened to the military that, against all odds in 1973, crossed the Suez Canal, fought a blood soaked hand-to hand battle at the Chinese Farm, and then encircled the entire Egyptian Third Army?
Within twenty-four hours of Shalit’s—or any Israeli’s—kidnapping, the Jewish State’s response should be simple and ruthless:
1. Every crossing into Gaza is sealed. Nothing goes in, nothing goes out. Nothing.
2. Electricity to Gaza is turned off.
3. Drones and special forces will relentlessly target and assassinate Hamas leaders wherever they might be—including their families.
Currently, the problem for Israel is that she has no credible deterrence against terrorist kidnappings. The IslamoNazis know that in the end Israel will trade hundreds if not thousands of terrorists for one or two Jews or Jewish corpses. No matter how you look at it, the terrorists are playing a winning hand.
Initiating such hard-line measures will bring international condemnation.
So what?
When Israel fights by the rules she is condemned with lunatic vigor.
The truth is if Israel just went ahead and acted as she should against a genocidal Islamist enemy who has been at war with Judaism since the 7th century, the oh-so-self-righteous Europeans and international human rights groups would quickly retreat, intimidated by the Jewish State’s no-nonsense approach.
As to the charge of disproportionate force: That is the very point of warfare, to bring overwhelming force against the enemy in order to effect his collapse and unconditional surrender.
There is no deterrence without the use of disproportionate force.
To guard against future cases like the Shalit swap, Israel must reevaluate her military doctrines in order to put Hamas and all terrorists on notice that the price paid for terrorism against Jews and the Jewish State is too fearful—even for Islamist nihilists who adore death.
Karen and I wish all our friends and relatives a joyous Succot and an inspirational Shabbat.

Ok, first of all, I want to see Gilad Shalit returned safe and sound to his family and country. Secondly, I whole-heartedly agree with your points: Victory does not occur without disproportional response, but that’s the whole point for the liberals — victory is such an outdated concept. No one should be the winner because we’re all, you know, equal in G-d’s eyes… right?
Personally, I wish Israel hadn’t returned Gaza — it should be a modern Israeli tourist destination on the shores of The Med. They shouldn’t have even returned the Sinai Peninsula. For that matter, I wish Israel had the proposed borders from 1919 where the borders took part of present day Jordan and had all of the Dead Sea within Israel’s border (see here if you’re not familiar with this: http://www.americanapologist.com/?p=337)
Lastly, Robert, what is the photo at top. You tease us non-Jews with your references, but aside from the fine hat, I have no idea what is going on in this picture. Since you won’t be available for comment for a few days, I guess I’m going to have to surf over to Judaism 101 to do some reading… be right back.
Ah, now I remember. Succot (or Sukkot on Judaism 101) remembers the wandering years. You build a ”booth” and live in it. Yes, yes, I remember some past references you made to it. It also involves fruit and waving branches (hence the photo). But what kind of fruit is that? I’m a midwesterner and I recognize apples, oranges, grapes and bananas as the 4 mojor fruits
If anyone else wants to study up on Succot, I went here: http://www.jewfaq.org/holiday5.htm

Major fruits… Silly typo, but I must have been thinking about my mojo because I looked at the Kosher Sex page at Juaism 101 too

Apparently, I can’t type today — Judaism 101. I have to laugh because I just noticed that the Judaism 101 page for Sukkot has this typo:
“Significance: Remembers the wandering in the dessert; also a harvest festival”
What dessert did the Jews wander through again — Hamantashen?

I agree with you and include the drones should target the terrorists exchanged for Shalit.
Where was the international community been since the kidnapping? They were all concerned about some waterboarding at Gitmo. What will they say if Shalit was really tortured as opposed to the discomfort at Gitmo? The human rights crowd should (but won’t) be ashamed for their skewed priorities.
Let’s hope Shalit is alive and well. Our prayers are with him and his family and an Israeli William T Sherman is allowed to seek justice on the criminals.

Robert–
Somehow there is a relationship between the Occupy Wall Street crowd and the thinking behind this exchange. Whether this can be traced or not, your formula, which goes to the American thinking during the war against Germany and Japan, is completely correct, if the desired outcome is a stable and relatively safe Israel. This outcome may not be the goal. Unfortunate. I was and am completely on side with the destruction of Dresden, the bombing of Japan, and following all this, the Marshall Plan. Someone in high office should read, or read again, The Prince.
