Seraphic Secret has noted here and here that the latest trends in fashion are a return to longer hemlines, flattering architectural silhouettes, and strategic use of color blocking. We also observe, with delight, that some of the best designers have extended the use of bold, fresh colors to their footwear collections. Of course, every woman should have basic black pumps, but hey, why not go a little crazy with vibrant chunks of color. C’mon ladies, kick up your heels.
No way you can be unhappy when you wear these Wallace Steiger open-toed pumps. These shoes have a definite 1940′s vibe, Drum Boogie at the USO.
This Ferragamo wedge also harkens back to the 1940′s, think Paulette Goddard, born Marion Pauline Levy, lounging by Charlie Chaplin’s pool on a hot, lazy day in Beverly Hills.
Nothing of the WWII era about these pink puppies by Miu Miu. Mad Max meets Jayne Mansfield.
Balenciaga has constructed the perfect footwear for Megan Fox in the next Transformers sequel.
You are the new Moira Shearer. You are tired of The Red Shoes. Oh joy, Prada has come up with a ballet flat that will allow you to leap into Dancing With The Stars.
Need to recover from the dreary and pretentious The Black Swan, well, here’s a taste of the genuine article.
Seraphic Secret is going geek. You can now follow us—or not—on Twitter.
Karen and I wish all our friends and relatives a lovely and colorful Shabbat.

It wasn’t just that Black Swan was pretentious; it was that, beneath all that self-satisfied shape-throwing, it wasn’t much of a story. Swan Lake with lesbians, really, and poor Vincent Cassel labouring to mouth so much emotional exposition, I can’t help but hope that his English was poor enough that he hadn’t a clue what a tool of the plot he was obliged to portray. Also, dance movies aren’t made with close-ups and shaky cam. Does anyone know how to make a dance movie anymore?

Gene Davis painted colorful stripes. His work makes me smile.

I’ve been studying Twitter for quite a while. But I like to take my time with new techology, make sure I understand what it does and does not do and how I can best make use of it. Finally decided to jump in and test the waters.

“Hot Beat” looks similar to a print I have hanging up “Rise and Shine” by Secunda.

More impressive than the array of colorful shoes is your comment about going geek and linking up with Twitter. Progressive!
Good Shabbos.

Agreed about color in shul. Not that I’m looking past the mechitzah either.
For men, the best way to integrate color in your wardrobe is via a silk tie. Not the muddy Yshivish browns and grays, but the bold vibrant colors of a true Regimental tie.
I buy all my ties from Ben Silver in Charleston SC.

True, the prices are, um, stratospheric, but the ties are so well made they last forever.
Have a great Shabbos!

Boy – more color would be such a breath of fresh air! I think 90% of the women I see in the synagogue lately are wearing either black of something close to it. (Not that I’m looking, of course.)
A bit of color in men’ clothes would be a nice thing, too.
Have a great Shabbos!
