Friday Footwear: Do it Yourself

Remember how Karen took an ordinary pair of black boots and launched them into fashionville by strapping English riding spurs to the heel?

Last Friday night Karen and I attended a shalom zachar here in Los Angeles. Karen wore her spurred boots and a couple of her more fashion conscious friends experienced the Inner Imelda—latent in females—and positively salivated.

Well, Karen has discovered another method of dressing up footwear.

You can never have too many ballet flats. Easy to walk in—a Dr. Scholl’s cushion extends the comfort range—appropriate for work, and always stylish with that Audrey Hepburn kick.

Basically, Karen was satisfied with her new purchase, but in terms of style—kind of blah.

A few determined clicks through the internet and Karen discovered ShoeClips.Biz

“Oh joy!” said Karen.

Okay, she didn’t say that, but I’m sure that’s what she was thinking.

Like a West Virginia miner—without the schmutz or threat of getting buried alive—Karen dug into the website and after much deliberation discovered just the right look for her new flats. A few clicks on the shoe clips website and less than a week later the clips arrived at Casa Avrech.

No batteries required.

Just clip to shoe…

And you’re good to go.

Said Karen: “Super cute!”

And she really did say that.

Higly versatile, the shoe clips can do multiple duty on any number of shoes. Karen tried them out on a pair of velvet film noir pumps and was delighted with the look. It’s like having a new pair of shoes at a fraction of the cost.

Karen and I wish all our friends and relatives a peaceful and meaningful Shabbat.

Comment Rules

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

    Eric:
Thanks for the info on American fashion. As for actresses being one step above hookers, in fact, there were quite a few early Hollywood actresses who were hookers.

American fashion started with exactly this item.During the “Roarin Twenties” all fashion was imported from Paris by debutantes back from their European tour (with the exception of flapper style most probably). With the onset of the Depression & later with the war rationing this was an economical method started by the Hollywood crowd to accesorise & diversify..That started the pop celebrity meshugat, until then being an actress was one step above being a streetwalker.Tey were all of the lower rungs of society except for the Hepburns.

Clip-on anythings are one of the most awesome advances in civilization. Consider the paper clip, pure genius.

How can I put this delicately?
    I hate jazz. Passionately.
    Yeah, that’ll do.

Robert, that “really awful music” you refer to is called jazz! At least that’s what I’m hearing — uptempo jazz featuring piano, trumpet, drums…

Thanks for the tip. I looked at the heelcondoms website and I’m sure Karen is going to be intrigued—in spite of the unfortunate name.

Caution: really awful music blasts when you enter the website, so make sure to switch off the volume on your computer.
