Friday Footwear: Happy

The American economy is not happy. The European Union is even less happy. And the Asian markets are, you guessed it, totally unhappy.

But shoe designers want you, more specifically your tootsies, to be happy in super cute, super colorful, super sculptural footwear.

Let’s take a look at some examples of potential female happiness, Seraphic Secret’s picks for the perfect Chanukah or Christmas gifts.

Dior's clever and playful wedge sandal references children's blocks. “Honey, it's playtime!”

You know who would love these super cute Tory Burch golf shoes? Carole Lombard, that's who. Footwear that, blessedly, will not induce a nosebleed.

Cat lovers—I know you're out there—let me introduce you to the Charlotte Olympia Kitty Pumps. Now you can clean kitty litter in style.

Color blocking is big for 2012. Brian Atwood goes all Mondrian with these candy-colored platforms.

Viktor & Rolf create a flirtatious look with a strappy design that seems decorated by a love sick teenage girl.

You don't have to wear skyscraper heels to be fashionable. These Nicholas Kirkwood flats—check out the patrician Brooks Bros. slipper vibe—have great sculptural lines married to psychedelic colors.

Christian Louboutin's Asteroid Spike Toe Pumps will make some lady wicked happy. However, her dancing partner might be kind of terrified.

Wife tells husband she wants to buy ferociously expensive heels. Husband says, “Forget it.” Wife flashes pic of the Prada Detroit Muscle Car stilettos. Husband says: “I'll drive you to the store.”

Karen and I wish all our friends an inspirational and happy Shabbat.

Comment Rules

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

I’d try those kitty shoes if they came in a flat version. I agree with Barry — bad feet and stressed spines aren’t sexy.

Nice shoes, but they really ought to pay those models more, so they can afford some hose.

Among the fashionista, hose is considered so yesterday.

Those designs are mostly inspired silliness IMHO, but I’d love to find a pair of those Nicholas Kirkwood flats under the tree!

If the Asteroid spike-toed shoes came in flats I would definitely wear them.

LOL, I think that if they had big thick heels, they look like something Gene Simmons would have worn on stage with KISS!

I sent the link to my youngest.  She wants a pair for Christmas.  Robert would not be surprised.

Nope, not at all surprised. In fact, delighted!

The Tory Burch golf shoes and the Kirkwood flats… all else are too “fashionable” to be comfortable!

Bad feet aren’t sexy. For that matter, bad anything isn’t sexy.
