Friday Footwear: Lielle Meital Kicks Up Her Heels

Not yet two years old, Lielle Meital has a passion for footwear. Here, she shows off her pink Crocs.

Here are some more pink shoes Lielle has her eyes on.

Christian Louboutin’s ‘Astraqueen’ boots.

Jean Paul Gaultier gift wraps your ankle in pink ribbon.

We are clueless as to why Lanvin named these puppies the ‘Horse Shoe.’

Go classic with Chanel’s pink ballet flats.

Brian Atwood’s ‘Zenith Lux’ ankle strap pumps with excellent detailing on the heel.

Karen and I and Lielle Meital wish all our friends and relatives a lovely and inspirational Shabbat.

Comment Rules

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

    The shoes — meh.
Lielle Meital, on the other hand — oh, that sweet face! And the pink Crocs look lovely on her.

I’m more of a shirt guy, have 60 or so in a rainbow of colours, not to mention the 120 t-shirts, but I always appreciate a good pair of boots.  A week ago I bought a pair of hi-top Converse All-stars, the best all-round shoe ever and all but destroyed them on a 5 day motorcycle ride through Vietnam’s central highlands, so I went out to the local market yesterday and got a pair of green Converse lo-top knockoffs for $15.

I love this country, great food, great people, more shades of green than Ireland.  Our guide on the roadtrip is 54 and gave me some great insights into life in a communist autocracy.

    Mr. Avrech,

I believe it to be a matter of craftsmanship on an accessible scale.  Leatherwork and metallurgy are right there, in or on the handbag or the shoes, accessible to and useful to an individual lady.

The men have their armor, greaves, cuirass, boots, war saddles, cannon, machinery, factories, and bridges; throughout history it has not been easy for the ladies to approach these things closely and appreciate them, never mind use them,  if they wished.

But in a shoe or a handbag, the blessings and offerings of the heirs of Haephestus are right there to be had, and to be enjoyed and appreciated.  So, they are!

Your explanation is compelling, but it does not explain (nor does mine) why little girls become obsessed with shoes.

But of course, boys of that age get busy with toy guns and trucks. So I’m going to put it down to male-female nature.

Can’t be sure if I’m seeing it correctly, but the inside base of the “Horse Shoe” heel looks indented making the bottom of the heel a “U” shape. Thus, it would leave little horseshoe-shaped marks in the wearer’s shoeprints left behind as she walks.

That’s aside from my first thought of “It’s a shoe for a clothes horse.”

Yes, there is an indentation. Clothes horse, good call!

What is it with females and shoes? Used to have a girl friend – would kid her about her show collection – saying Imelda Marcos would be jealous.

      Bill:

Women look at a blouse or a dress and have to try it on to see how it looks. But a shoe immediately reveals its architecture and what it will do for the visual impact of their feet, a big plus. Hence women’s love affair with shoes and pocket books.
