Friday Photos: How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Lielle Meital waiting for her baggage in LAX.

Summer vacation.

Seraphic Secret spent time in Yosemite and not long afterwards, Offspring #2 and family arrived in Los Angeles for a two-week vacation. Activities included a wedding at the Terranea Resort, day trips to museums, playgrounds, and swimming in Casa Avrech’s cement pond.

Vacation time is almost over, but our memories will last a lifetime.

Terranea is a luxury resort by the sea. The wedding was held outside. It was a magical location. Up on the bluffs, there were dozens of hotel guests watching the Orthodox ceremony. As the music played and the wedding singers sang the traditional Jewish tunes, couples on the bluffs swayed to the music and hugged each other romantically.

Maayan Ariel was a flower girl at the wedding. She proudly poses in her white wedding shoes.

The fountain in Casa Avrech’s front patio is an enchanted spot for Lielle Meital (left) and Maayan Ariel.

Maayan is a budding fashionista. “Look, my Dora the Explorer socks!”

Lielle Meital stepped to the edge of the pool… and just plunged into the water. No fear. Naturally, her Daddy was there to catch her in his arms.

Maayan Ariel demonstrates the dance movements she has learned.

Our dancing daughters. Offspring #2 and Maayan in their matching shoes.

Lielle Meital struggled mightily to pull herself up and into one of the wicker chairs on the patio. As you can see, she is exhausted but mightily satisfied.

Maayan Ariel wants you to meet Giraffee, her constant companion since infancy.

Karen and I wish all our friends and relatives a lovely and inspirational Shabbat.

Comment Rules

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Ha, ha, “cement pond”! Did you have dinner later in the “fancy eatin’ room”? :-)

I have you pegged as the Jed Clampett character, NOT Jethro Bodine!
Besides, Max Baer will never rival the acting abilities of Buddy Ebsen :-)

I’ll say it again. Well done, Robert, both photographically and parentally-speaking!

Thanks so much. The iPhone camera does not have a great lens but it does the job.

Looks like a great stay-cation with the offspring. I can see a bit of you in Lielle Meital’s face. Have lots of nachas!

Karen and I got to know Maayan and Lielle really well this visit. Both are funny, bright and, of course, beautiful.

Robert – what the iPhone lacks – photographically speaking – it more than makes up in convenience. During the “digital vs film” debate most of us had 5-10 years ago I left my Nikon F3 in the closes and used a little Canon Powershot almost exclusively.

The iPhone has the added advantage that – due to its multi functions – you always have it.

And a beautiful shopt – well framed with good light – is far better from a camera that you happen to have than a better camera that you didn’t bring with you ;-)

    Ah, Yosemite.

Clear evidence of global warming. If only we would get rid of our SUVs the glaciers could return and fill the valley. And Half Dome will be restored to be Full Dome. And Manhattan will be buried under a mile of ice.

Looks like a beautiful wedding. Congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple.

      Johnny:

The wedding was amazing. Maayan was perched on my shoulders for some of the dancing and the smile did not leave her face until she dropped off to sleep.
