—Dorothy Lamour (b.Mary Leta Dorothy Slaton, 1914 – 1996)

—Anna May Wong

“Light and Colour”
oil on canvas (78 × 78 cm) — before 1844
The full title of this painting is “Light and Colour (Goethe’s Theory) – The Morning after the Deluge – Moses Writing the Book of Genesis.”
The figure in the centre is Moses. Below him people float in the water. There is fresh light, yellow, derived from Goethe’s theory of colour.
The painting was stolen in 1994 from a museum in Frankfurt where it was on loan from the Tate Gallery. The Gallery retrieved it by buying it on the black market in 2002.

Jeanne Crain, who I liked in movies, said the same thing as in the Basinger book. I have ordered another. I especially liked Jeanne Crain in “People will talk.”
My college roommate had a 1967 Corvette. I loved it.
My daughter’s boss, John Baldessari, died last Thursday. We don’t know what effect this will have on her job as she was technically his archivist, although she had become his companion the last few years,
Baldessari was a wonderful artist. He was one of the few contemporary artists whose work was infused with a sense of humor, specifically a Hollywood laugh track. RIP
I love the Dorothy Lamour quote — she gets it. I remember telling my wife, years ago, that dancing (and I’m talking about couples dancing, not the modern “Go-Go-like” form of dancing) is a form of, or at least a precursor to, foreplay. She dismissed me at the time, but (years) later finally admitted I was right.
I like the watch, but for the price, I like the maroon Timex better.
As a teen, my neighbor owned a similar Corvette. Beautiful car.
I am fascinated by the Friedlander photo. The poster on the left (Ecstasy) appears to be a movie poster, but I can’t see the usual title, actors, etc. I am also debating if the waitress is a real woman or a mannequinn.
That is my favorite Corvette.
