great watch
love Rick’s photo, the light, the coloring, the blurriness
Thanks! Shot with a pinhole “lens” last spring. The beginning of my experimentation with pinhole during lockdown.
Lauren Hutton – Wow. Wish I could have been there when she was nearly dateless. Her trademark, IIRC was the gap in her front teeth.
Marylin – that was the same year as the Prince and the Showgirl. I think you wrote a great background on the making of that movie Robert?
Mt takeaway from that – paraphrasing perhaps – “Marilyn went there to learn how to act [from Olivier], and Olivier wanted to learn how to be a star [from Marilyn].
Love the picture of MacLaine and daughter.
IDF female soldiers seem to know how to stay feminine with a killer instinct.
Michael is right about Lena Horne. I remember reading that she would be a headliner at some nightclub and have to make her entrance through the kitchen because she was black,
Marilyn curtsying to 30 year old Queen Elizabeth in 1956 is interesting. I notice Victor Mature to Monroe’s right, but is that Anthony Quayle to her left? Quayle was in the movie and so might have been at the showing. He was only an inch shorter than Mature, so it could be a perspective issue of him looking taller, or it could simply be someone else.
Marilyn was also 30 years old.
The Lena Horne pic prompted me to read her biography. I saw her perform in Chicago when I was a teenager. If anyone had a good reason to be a civil rights activist, she was it. Sad to see the direction it is taking now.
It looks like the IDF has solved the problem of female body armor. Maybe Biden should ask about it.
Marilyn looks like she would have fallen out of that dress if her curtsy was lower. Elizabeth was a very pretty queen. One hopes she will outlive her idiot family.
I like that “On the cliffs” painting a lot. The window painting with the girl tracing a flower is gorgeous.
“Israeli Soldier of the Border Patrol” – Wait. . . Israel doesn’t have wide open borders like the rest of the Woke World??? (She has a very pretty smile.)
Myrna Loy is looking as seductive as ever in that photo. Lena Horn always seemed to have bright eyes and such a vivacious smile in her photos. Shirley MacLaine and her daughter are adorable, as is your granddaughter Lielle.
Your analysis of the watch is 100% spot on. I love the blue second hand and I’m intrigued by the “toothpick” style hands for the hours and minutes. I prefer the Longines Master Collection Moonphase Automatic Chronograph.
Finally, the window in Antwerp. What are the gold details above the window?
Have a wonderful weekend and a meaningful Shabbat.
