This segment from CNN is a perfect illustration of the enormous gulf that exists between the sophisticates—code for Liberals—in this country, and the ordinary, common sense American citizen—code for Republicans.
The issue is, naturally, guns.
Or more precisely, the relevance of the Second Amendment, the Right to Bear Arms.
On the one hand we have CNN news bunny Carol Costello, highly educated, image burnished to a Vogue-like sheen, and mindlessly chanting anti-gun mantras.
The object of her scorn is Missouri businessman Mark Muller of Max Motors, a Christian and a man with a great deal of common sense.
As you can see, there is no contest.
Ms. Costello comes across as a condescending elitist. Mr. Muller, displaying patience and courtesy, effortlessly demolishes her shallow world-view.

Hey I called them and even though this promotion ended last year, they STILL gave me a voucher for the AK47. Just give them a call and ask them about the voucher, if they say no, then ask to speak to Mr. Muller himself. These guys were very easy to deal with and I was told they still gets lots of questions about the AK47.

For a couple of years, Carol Costello was a night time (11 PM) anchor in Baltimore. IIRC when she arrived she was heavily promoted. Among all the anchors I’ve been familiar with I don’t recall any who so transparently pushed a liberal agenda as Ms. Costello. She wasn’t in Baltimore that long, maybe her act wore thin, even in a liberal town like Baltimore. (I don’t think that she got promoted out of Baltimore a la Oprah; I think that she was “disappeared.”)

I just tried the video and it “timed out” — ironically the message says “The connection timed out after attempting to connect for several secounds.” — secounds? Yes, a typo on the CNN web site… imagine that! (unless this is a Euro-centric spelling I’m not familiar with — like colour perhaps?)
I actually believe that they pulled this video. It might have passed a 6 month threshold, or it might have just been embarassing.
It’s been a while since I stopped by, Robert — a career change seemed in order. I also wanted to thank Israel for their quick response to the Haiti disaster. I hear they have a 500 bed hospital already in operation. Good work! The American doctors interviewed this morning were operating on tables in the open air! It’s that Israeli can-do spirit showing through again!

Great free advertising. And I’m sure she didn’t enjoy revealing her age.

This is off topic, but I ask all of you to pray for the suffering people of Haiti.

Is Ms. Costello familiar with the saying “Pray to G-d, but keep your powder dry?” Does she think that refers to bath powder?
The Christian readers on this website will know: “Where does Jesus say ‘I come to bring not peace, but a sword?”

WOW. I’m with everyone on the snottily condescending CNN woman. “Well, dahling, SOME PEOPLE might have a problem with that.” DRIPPING contempt.
Wish he would have asked her why, if a person can legally and ethically be trusted with a handgun, that person can’t be trusted with an AK-47. Does she think that AK-47s are an inherently evil tool that turns otherwise good, upstanding handgun-holders EVIL?

I nearly spit out my tea when he said “You have a problem with G-d?” Good for him!
Too bad I already bought my truck, I’d give this guy a call.

Their motto might be “upsetting” to some people? O noes! Do you think they can add a clause banning such travesties to the Fairness Doctrine?
And you know, what bothers me most about this is how disgustingly condescending this woman is. She’s certainly entitled to disagree with Mr. Muller, but she should have the intelligence and integrity to realize that his opinion is valid under oh, you know, the Constitution, and speak to him with appropriate respect for him and his opinion. This “You’re a naughty child who clearly hasn’t figured out how to tie his shoes yet” approach is not only shameful journalism, but is also a clear reflection on how this woman deals as a person with people who disagree with her.
It’s times like these when I reflect on how lucky I am not to work for CNN.

A superb video and your characterization is accurate.
Hmmm, as to that bit about “what would Jesus do” -In Luke, one of Jesus’s last instructions to his followers on the eve of the Last Supper was, if you don’t have a sword, sell you’re cloak and buy one. Indeed, the whole just war theory of the Catholic Church is textually based in the bible. The CNN anchors question comes from someone whose knowledge of the bible is superficial at best and seems primarily directed at being able to belittle we uneducated bumpkins on the right who cling to their guns and religion.

That anchorette is just dripping condescension. Mark is a lot more patient that I would have been. You could tell she wasn’t from Texas
