The modern state of Israel celebrates its 66th anniversary today.
What are we feeling?
There is joy and there is hope. But there is also an inescapable feeling of dread. Israel has not known a moment without war, without the threat of genocide by Arab Nationalists, Arab Socialists, and IslamoNazis.
It is worth remembering that before the modern state of Israel was born, she pursued a two-state policy with her Arab neighbors. This offer of land and peace was roundly rejected by every Arab state. Instead, the Arab Muslim states declared war, a holy jihad against “the Jews.”
According to Islam, there is no room for Jews in the Middle East.
Just as there was no room for Jews in Europe.
Of course, there were no so-called settlements in 1948.
And yet the Arab/Muslims called for Jihad against the Jews of the land of Israel. Thus, the modern obsession with freezing so-called settlements has been a false flag for over 66 years. In terms of policy, it is as outdated as the Model T Ford.
And yet the chattering classes in America and Europe continue to pursue false paradigms even as the Middle East is morphing into a collection of Islamist states. The facts on the ground are completely at odds with the anti-Israel policies of Obama and the post-modern Democrat party.
How has this administration reacted to the reconciliation between Fatah with Hamas and Islamic Jihad? With a few well-crafted State Dept. press releases. And yet Fatah is sending 3,000 “security troops” to Gaza to cooperate with Islamic Jihad and Hamas. Hamas and Islamic Jihad have been designated terrorist organizations by the U.S. and Europe. And so the helpless U.S. taxpayer and the odious EU are officially funding the marriage of Fatah and Hamas/Islamic Jihad, terrorist gangs whose only goal is the liquidation of the Jewish State and the genocide of the Jewish people.
The truth is we are seeing the birth and establishment of terrorist states given legitimacy by Europe—always ready to murder a few million Jews—and ObamaDemocrats, radical leftists who has no love for Jews or the Jewish State.
All across the Middle East, savage Islamist armies are moving to control vast swaths of territory and the apparatus of state: Libya, Malaysia,, Indonesia, Tunisia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, Yemen, Jordan, Nigeria, Sudan, Egypt, Syria, fragile nation states with unraveling central authority, and corrupt judicial systems, are gradually giving ground to medieval Islamists.
The Islamist state of Iran has shown the way and the will to power.
And yet Kerry blames Israel for peace talks that were doomed to fail because the Arab Muslims have no interest in building another Arab Muslim state.
They only wish to destroy the Jewish state and establish a transnational caliphate.
And so, as we celebrate Israel’s modern rebirth, we do so with the terrible knowledge that ghastly actors from Brandies University to Boko Haram to J Street to the Caucasus Emirate in Southern Russia, are all bound by one goal: to make sure that Israel does not live to see another anniversary.
But Jewish history has a stubborn way of reasserting its strength. As HaShem told Abraham:
“And I will make of you a great nation; I will bless you, and I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those that bless you, and curse the one who curses you; and all the families of the earth will be blessed through you”
—Genesis, 12: 2-4
The Hollywood/Washington Democrats must be rejoicing. George Clooney is marrying a virulent anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian activist.
The more I read about this — and not exclusively from your great site, Robert — the more I worry about the various prophecies and how bad it will get for all concerned.
But then seeing those photos of your grandchildren puts bigger smiles on my face every time, so I just keep on watching how it will unfold while I take care of my own family my own way.
Mayan is even getting cuter, if that is possible. Throughout the Bible there are references to Israel, from the time the Jews were captive in Egypt to the near past (the reformation of Israel) – to the future.
I think in one passage G*d says that He will “scatter you among the nations” and in the last days bring them back [to Israel].
To me all of Israel’s major wars have seen the Hand of G*d – 1948, 1967 and 1973.
One wonders if the Islamist terrorist actually achieve some level of diplomatic legitimacy, if it would be easier to defeat them. Today, when you speak against radical Islam, you are automatically told that you are being intolerant and/or racist. If the enemy can be defined as a nation/state, it might just be easier to rally the troops…
Indeed! 🙂
As I read your post, I remembered that life is beautiful all the time and, I was going to admonish you with a quote from the Torah….
“And I will make of you a great nation; I will bless you, and I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those that bless you, and curse the one who curses you; and all the families of the earth will be blessed through you”
Oops!
One might be inclined to look at the entire world the other way ’round, based on G-d’s Promise to His Jewish People.
Those nations and peoples that wish to destroy Israel and the Jews have been in a serious death spiral ever since Israel was established and, if I may quote “I, Claudius,” – “Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out,” these nations and peoples are currently eating themselves in a frenzy of self destruction and savage civil wars.
Based on history, anti Israel and antisemitic Europe and Russia will most likely have their own savage wars of self destruction.
Unfortunately, the United States has jumped on this bandwagon by endorsing the current administration and its allies who – as a result of their anti Israel and antisemitic policies? are currently destroying all that once made America great.
The rub is that, according to the Torah, if Jews were to return to the Ways of G-d and His Torah, the nations of the world might be saved from their own self annihilation.
Ouch. 🙁
