Last night, my friend Larry Elder appeared on the ratings-challenged Piers Morgan show to talk about the George Zimmerman verdict. Morgan, whose signature Brit glibness is often mistaken for intelligence, tries to engage Larry in a discussion about the intelligence of Rachel Jenteal.
Larry, too smart to fall for this bait, explains to Morgan that the critical issue facing African-Americans is the lack of fathers in black homes. Without fathers, black families are condemned to live lives dependent on government welfare—government as surrogate daddy—which results in vicious cycles of drugs, crime, incarceration, and ever more fatherless black homes.
Of course, because Larry tells the truth—broken families lead to a broken culture—liberals went all atwitter, saying that Larry is a “house nigger.”
Note: Seraphic Secret usually deletes expletives, but we have preserved them in the following tweets in order to expose the stunning vulgarity and intellectual void, that is at the heart of liberalism.
Those of you who have followed Seraphic Secret for a few years know about my connection with Larry. When our son Ariel, zt’l, was ill with cancer, he loved listening to Dennis Prager, Larry Elder and Michael Medved. Of these smart and engaging men, Larry was, by far, Ariel’s favorite talk show host. He loved Larry’s quick mind and the manner in which he effortlessly rebutted his critics, using nothing more than common sense.
I wrote a letter to Larry telling him about Ariel. Larry wrote back within a few hours and offered to visit Ariel in the hospital. Ariel was thrilled. He and Larry spoke for about an hour. Ariel was luminous with joy. And Larry was a model of compassion and decency.
Larry and I had lunch a few weeks later. Larry is a witty and an incredibly smart gentleman. To see him lynched on Twitter by liberals/progressives/whatever is painful, but not surprising. It points to the ugly nature of post-modern Democrats, who tolerate no dissent from their reactionary dogma.
African-Americans are expected to remain grateful and compliant on the ideological plantation white liberals have constructed for them. Those who dare oppose liberal orthodoxy are singled out for particularly brutal treatment.
I think Elder did really well. He had Morgan playing defense from the get-go.
It’s really an indictment of so many of these so-called “journalists” when the interviewee has to keep talking or be buried in the journalists opinions.
I would imagine the Founding Fathers would spin in their graves knowing this is what is protected.
Elder clearly decided to use this interview as a chance to get his views out to a liberal audience. He had no intention of answering Morgan’s questions, which he brushed aside. He basically hijacked the program, which I thought was great.
Why hasn’t anyone brought up Jesse jackson comment
Whose is the racist ?this is from wikipedia
There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved…. After all we have been through. Just to think we can’t walk down our own streets, how humiliating.
Remarks at a meeting of Operation PUSH in Chicago (27 November 1993). Quoted in “Crime: New Frontier – Jesse Jackson Calls It Top Civil-Rights Issue” by Mary A. Johnson, 29 November 1993,Chicago Sun-Times (ellipsis in original). Partially quoted in US News & World Report (10 March 1996)
What hypocrites!
Honestly Robert I thought Larry – while all of his points were dead-on, was talking so much over Piers that to me, well, it is the same old stuff on so much of cable news shows.
Perhaps if Elder hadn’t been talking so much Piers would have dominated the conversation. I’ve seen that too.
Too few real conversations going on these days between Left & Right.
And I’m certainly no fan of Piers Morgan.
Bill —
Not being a fan of Piers Morgan is soooo easy. Wonder how he is doing in his time slot. You know what…? I think I hate him if it is possible to hate someone you don’t know…This boy is repellent.
He has a rather condescending attitude towards anyone disagreeing with him.
Bill:
The only way to deal with Morgan is to plow him under. Otherwise, he will get you talking about issues that are not relevant. Morgan is very good at deflecting. Larry fought his battle, not Morgan’s.
I see your point Robert – and if Larry hadn’t done what he did Morgan would have deflected and run the conversation his way (making Elder look bad).
It is a shame there are so few real journalists who are looking for truth instead of pushing their own agendas.
Those twitter folks obviously weren’t raised on the tales of Uncle Remus and Br’er Rabbit. They’d be able to think better if they had been.
Thus are the fruits of liberal moral superiority.
The very thought and actions that claim moral superiority a person or group, not racist, but bigots.
To be a racist a person needs to think and profess that their racial group is superior to all other groups; physically, mentally, spiritually and such. Since liberals apply their views to other groups or whole segments of society they show that they are Bigots.
G_ds spiritual law of attraction leads people to seek out like persons. “For intelligence cleaveth unto intelligence; wisdom receiveth wisdom; truth embraceth truth; virtue loveth virtue; light cleaveth unto light; mercy hath compassion on mercy and claimeth her own; justice continueth its course and claimeth its own; judgment goeth before the face of him who sitteth upon the throne and governeth and executeth all things.”
To be a racist a person needs to think and profess that their racial group is superior to all other groups; physically, mentally, spiritually and such.
I don’t accept that definition. Such a person is not inherently racist. To be racist is to display hatred toward another racial group, to denigrate them. It is not racist to simply think well of one’s own, or even to act in service to one’s own people.
Jenteal is the crown of liberal creation. She is the living embodiment of liberal education, war on poverty entitlements, destruction of the black family, and the assault on the western idea of civilization. She is not the future, she is the now!
” African-Americans who dissent from liberal orthodoxy, because they are expected to remain grateful and compliant on the ideological plantation constructed by white liberals, are singled out for particularly brutal treatment.”
I am shocked; shocked I tell you… At your veiled euphemisms that you use to conceal the true meaning of what you intend to say…
You tend to be a tad more, ummm, outspoken than the above.
However, I understand – as Melanie Phillips wrote back to me when I commented on the unexplained title of her latest essay that was published on Tisha B’Av; “The baseless hatred of the EU towards Israel;” she wrote:
“I used ‘baseless hatred’ very deliberately in the knowledge that observant Jews would understand the timely reference; everyone else will just read it straight, and any attempt to explain the particular significance of the day would be otiose.”
I suppose that any attempt to actually explain in the common vernacular, the above, would be otiose.
Interesting response from Philips.
Robert —
These people do not read like liberals but something quite different.
What do they read like, Barry?
Race Baiters — The self-important reactive crowd that follows Reverend Al. Not at all liberal. The answer to the question of Trayvon’s legacy is — the continued success of Al Sharpton in stirring up the stupid for his own purpose.
Unfortunately, though, self-identified “liberals” and “progressives” have jumped onto the bandwagon.
They may be part of the crowd that lacks the “clever” gene — but in no way are these the good people quoted above.
